at the opposite end of this question i have supported the sky blues since 1967 (the year we got promoted to the first division) and ive seen nearly every team play against in the football league and premier league
but i ve never seen us play Huddersfield or Fulham
they seem to have had the happy knack of being promoted or relegated at the same time as us in the opposite direction

Coventry City - Record against...? (Detailed view)

This site says we played Fulham last in the league 67/68 and Huddersfield last in 71/72

Aside from the lower league teams who we’ve been higher than another team we don’t play much are Bolton with 13 games

Sheffield United 29 games.

Preston 27
Ipswich 24
Palace 23
Wasn’t expecting that, another team that we don’t have a great record against in recent years. We always seemed to get cheated at BL, i remember we beat them when Boothroyd was in charge, think King’s debut

Last played Fulham in the League Cup, early 1980's.
Seem to recall us playing Huddersfield in the same comp in the late 1970's?

After yesterday's sad news concerning Peter Bonetti's passing, I had a look to see if he was in goal the first time I saw us play Chelsea - Sept 1978. He was and as well as being surprised that Ron 'chopper' Harris also played that day I noticed Ray Wilkins in the line up and realised I'd seen him play against us a few times for other clubs, namely Man U and QPR.
Granted, it's only three and I'll have to have a think for others, but my question today is.... What players have you seen play against us with different clubs? No lazily throwing in Ted MacDougall - Loads of clubs but mainly outside the top division.
Name the player and the various clubs he turned out for. (They can include us of course)

indeed sad news about Peter Bonetti.
I remember a 5-1 win against Chelsea at home I think in the 77-78 season. I've just checked out your first game and 3-2 win although I cant say I remember that game. Can you imagine us beating Chelsea 5-1 these days? Absolutely hammered them that day and felt sorry for Peter Bonetti.

I saw 'Butch' Wilkins last managing Jordan in Asia cup in Melbourne back in 2015. I thought it looks like him , can it be and it was! Top bloke and so sad he also is no longer around.

I didn't see the 5-1, stripes. (abbreviating your user name doesn't turn out entirely flattering) in fact my visits to HR were few and far between up until 1980 when I was allowed to go on my own without parental supervision. I can recall how the tickets for that particular game were acquired - Two freebies at school virtue of a 'fastest hand' in answering a random question - Me and Greenie got the tickets and 'quiz master' Mr Spring (geography teacher) a cockney, therefore a Man U fan, met us as 'chaperone' outside the West stand entrance (my first time in West Stand)
I don't remember a great deal about the game or indeed the goals but do recall Chelsea fans coming into the West Terrace to great fanfare (their own), the brief ruck that ensued (not that we could see it, only hear it) then they were escorted down the cinder track, Main Stand side down to the newly created away fans enclosure on the Kop.
Final whistle blows and a Chelsea player immediately lashes one goal wards (Kop end) which finds the net. Chelsea fans celebrate, the rest of us momentarily stop and think 'Ref still had the whistle to his mouth, does that count....?' Of course it didn't.
Walk back into town, on the way witnessing the sporadic post match battles that used to occur on Gosford green after most games. Catch the 22 to Willenhall which unbeknown to me was being trailed by a mini bus of Chelsea supporters who had become irked at the actions of a group of lads who were taking the piss from the back window.
A Benny Hill type scenario broke out when we debussed at the Marina chippy at the bottom of St James's lane.
Other than that I don't remember much either.
