After this mornings EFL statement where Rick Parry said that whenever games resume they won’t be with the fans in the stadium and will be tv and online only. How are we feeling about that?

Also any one got any idea about ticket refunds? I’ve got a fair few tickets for Lincoln and Accrington

You'll be given access to view the games online for free rather than refunds.
I've spent a fair bit on Accrington tickets and I'm not expecting to see any of it back

It's probably the best that can be expected
Be interesting to see what's done about refunds
A gig at a not for profit venue for the end of the month has unsurprisingly been cancelled and the venue asked that anyone who could help change their payment to a donation to help them survive
I did so but guess that others would need the money and ask for a refund
Suspect most clubs will hope their fans can help in the same way

I think more will be inclined to help their own clubs but not sure they will want to give hundreds to other teams for away tickets.

Will it be like pre season games when we return throwing up funny results or will we be able to keep our momentum going to the end

Why is it a poor way to end the season and why would it be better now to end it on a ppg basis? At least by playing behind closed doors clubs get the income from iFollow - which I can see vastly increasingly in popularity with fans of clubs in the EFL. I don't see the logic from a financial perspective ending the season now as this would leave clubs without any source of income for months.

They’re doing it for all fans for free though aren’t they? Not sure how this helps with club revenues?

On the other hand there is limited income from TV, and now the club is on the hook to pay 100% wages against very diminished income, you can guarantee that people won't pay for streams in anywhere near the number that people buy tickets.

Well unless you have a crystal ball you can't guarantee it I'm afraid. Given that no pubs are open and everyone is stuck at home I personally think there would be more opportunity for iFollow to be a successful alternative. IMO the vast majority of those that watch the streams probably don't go to matches anyway so I don't see how you can include those into the mix. Equally, given that the club will be reliant on a paid-for streaming service to remain solvent, I think a huge proportion of fans would be willing to dip into their pockets to help.

Revenue will obviously be down significantly, but your alternative to do nothing isn't an option. Especially as the Premier League and EFL could very well follow the lead of Bundesliga and Seria A, who are already in discussions about not letting fans into their stadiums until next year.

Not sure what else the EFL could do really. Think this would be a good move. The real problem is what happens next season.

The cancellation argument is based on the principle that we get this out of the way then we start the next season when it's done. it isn't going away, I'd be very surprised if we didn't have to lock down next autumn/winter and then you're starting a precedent that the season is voided when interrupted, so that one gets cancelled and so on and so forth. Once you get to that point why bother going to games or giving a shit what happens as any game could not matter, I wouldn't be buying my season ticket or have anything like the involvement. If we get this season finished (9 games behind closed doors, 2 or 3 a week is so easy) then we can focus entirely on next season and work out how best to deal with those problems when they arise.

Exactly this... this season has to finish, PPG is bollocks (and only talked about because were top), they cannot "guess" the rest of the season.

Whenever football comes back (even if behind doors) this season has to be finished before next can start. If that means this season takes us to September, then so be it. Timings will just have to be worked out. We've got a winter world cup coming anyway so that would screw with things anyway.

If theres another lock down, pause again, and start again, not difficult

I think that is the way it's going.
I expected the remainder of the season to start behind closed doors but was hopeful of seeing a few games live before it ends but I've given up on that notion.
If they allow supporters back in for a few of the fixtures then bonus but I'm excepting to see the remainder of the season from my armchair.

Most of the people who want the season voiding have a benefit in that happening people like Brady at West Ham.

The club can keep my season ticket money I don’t want a refund and I will happily pay the Ifollow fee to see us play more, this has been an exiting season and I have had my money’s worth out the season ticket already, but if I had away tickets I would want refunds on them for sure.

Yeah, people are stuck in the idea of the season being August to May, that is out of the window with coronavirus and the world cup coming up. Lets just finish games when we can and move onto the next one, when that is interrupted we pick up where we left off. then after 2022 we can work out how to normalise things.

Players contracts and the infrastructure is built around August to May. It's not that simple surely?

Only because that is the season. I expect we'll just see players contracted to the end of the season as opposed to 30th June. The alternative is players just not picking up clubs and hundreds being out fo work.

Easily solved by not opening the transfer window or not allowing new registrations. The option at the moment for players is they stay with their current club or they have no club at all.

Using us as an example how many players will want to walk away from a potentially title winning season. That's potentially a once in a career thing.
