Obviously the virus and all the death, misery and financial repercussions that come
With it takes precedence over everything else but on the sporting side of things this

I don't understand why the EFL and FA are still dragging their feet. The season must end now, with enough games played to determine promotion and playoffs. Either make it PPG ratio or leave as is. No relegation but teams who started the season like Bolton while not relegated will start the new season on minus their points again. Better than being relegated and fair.

Teams that are blatantly not good enough to stay in the league shouldn't get a reprieve. Southend and Bolton should go

It won't end uncertainty though because no one can guarantee next season starting in August. Certainly not with supporters in attendance.
I think if they could then they would end this season now.
I expect this season to finish BCD

The more I look at it the more comfortable it looks, if that was a championship team or league 2 team and I saw that I would say it's in the bag all day long and award them the title, that's not being biased

So why should there be promotion but no relegation? Other than the fact that we're top and were looking increasingly likely to go up?
If there's no relegation there should be no promotion either. Simple as that. Still keen?

We should be finishing the season behind closed doors, in the worst case scenario some sides have 10 games to play most have fewer.

Why not do what the people who run the 'Pools' do? When too many games are postponed, they bring in a "panel of experts" to decide the outcome of those games. I'm sure this could be used for the current situation? It might take them a while to go through all the remaining games and make a good decision but surely it's better than cancelling the whole season?

Simple. No team is impacted unfairly. The leagues will have extra teams in them from promoted sides but can introduce a 3 down instead of 2 down for a couple years to realign the leagues back to normality.

I don't think any team in a play off position or just outside will agree they weren't impacted unfairly.
Sunderland have to play the team directly above them, Peterborough, so I'm sure they'd kick off about the season finishing on PPG. (though they generally are griping about something anyway).

I can understand our fans wanting as-it-stands or PPG to conclude the season and we go up. I want to go up too. There is that fear that that unstoppable momentum we'd built before the stoppage is lost and anything from here on in would be a lottery. If there's one thing you do as a Cov fan it's expect the worse. But I also have a sense of fair play and it doesn't seem fair. Fairer than other solutions and suggestions but still not fair.
Plus I've waited forty years to be in a position like this and may never get to experience it again. To have it all end now would in years to come make it a soured memory. People always saying it wasn't a 'proper' win etc.even though it would probably be pretty memorable due to its unique nature.
I know anything could happen on the restart and it could all go wrong, but on balance that's a risk I'd be willing to take to make this a 'proper' title.
I'm also in two minds about why we're so keen to get next season underway. As a promoted teams there's every chance we could find it hard going and end up losing more than winning. Why are we so keen to enter that situation as quickly as possible when we've played so well this year.
Yes, the chances of BCD or later restricitions may work in our favour budget wise as other teams would be more affected than us in terms of gate receipts etc (but would we still have to rent the stadium for the whole season even if most of it were BCD - I suspect we would) but we would have a very low budget in comparison to many others teams in that division.

SBD I do not see it from rose tinted sky blue glasses. The fact we are top is immaterial to what are unprecedented times in our country and around the world. Yes a few extra games to play next season but that's hardly an impact and the season could be laid out an extra few weeks too. But the impact of a cold start up BCD would be far greater and the risk to health is still going to be enormous anytime soon.

So next season more games to play, high likelihood of disruption from new lockdowns to manage cases for health service So people aren't going to be willing to buy tickets due to the uncertainty (that's if we're even allowed in or if there might be massive capacity restrictions to enable distancing etc) or we play the entire season BCD selling 'tickets' to watch online which would be the bizarrest circumstances for the players - like every game was a training match. Atmosphere won't be there and it'll be largely a damp squib as players can't find the same level of motivation.
Plus what if a player is diagnosed. Will the entire team either get tested or have to isolate again affecting fixtures. So higher likelihood of fixtures being called off mixed with more games to play. Can't see that becoming a disaster can you?
You may not think you're viewing it through Sky Blue glasses but the fact that you suggest promotion still occur but not relegation just shows you are. Either both occur or neither. Can't just cherry pick what best suits us.

Because it's completely random! You're as well having a computer simulated game if you want to do this (which is also ridiculous). All ex Pro's decisions would be subject to their bias towards their old teams and against their rivals. How would we feel with a panel including ex Sunderland or Portsmouth players but no Cov? It didn't really matter what the pools panel decided anyway as it wasn't real, but this would matter and would be wide open to legal action by any clubs disadvantaged by their decisions. Football authorities can make some barmy decisions at times, but if they opted for this way to decide the season, it would top everything.

Rubbish! It would be overseen by The EFL and Premier League people who would ensure that fair judging took place. So what would you like to see? Abandon the season all together, restart and hope that we find the same form for another full season?

Chin up mate! In that time frame you’ve also seen us win an FA Cup and watched us playing top flight football for a fair few years. More than most, both on here and football clubs generally!

I honestly can't think of one salient reason why this season shouldn't finish.
I think the points you've put forward would have more validity if the government said everything will definitely be returni g to normal on a definitive date which of course they can't.
I think finishing this season on PPG is an absolute minefield for the EFL and with the EPL seemingly determined to finish the season I don't see any way in which the EFL doesn't follow suit.

No, I want to see this season finished with matters decided on the pitch, where they should be decided, not off them, and regardless of how long that might take. In your scenario, would you accept the EFL/ Premier led pools panel decision, if it resulted in other teams finishing above us and us not getting promoted?

.......... but that's the whole point. You want some random person chosen by the EFL to decide our fate. That person might take a contrary view to ourselves, see some arbitrary factor like goal difference, where a few other teams are ahead of us, and think that we had a flukey season so far and were due a bad run, who knows?
Much better to be decided on the pitch, where it should be settled.
