Just another thought-the OC in question in on Windows 7. How about a windows upgrade to say windows 10 installed on it? Worth doing or not?

Depends on the spec of it, might run really slow. Windows 10 isn't that great anyway.

Has it got a model number?

Windows 7 isn't bad anyway for internet browsing and stuff.
Just worried that security etc is an issue as the updates now have stopped since January?
Can’t really purchase tickets or enter any details regarding banks etc if that’s the case as it’s a bit risky isn’t it?
Do all that stuff on the phone as they are up to date.

If you use Chrome and keep it up to date it should be ok.

Update Windows as much as you can

Install malware bytes and run a full scan, you should be ok!

You can try to update to Windows 10 but it is hard to say how well it will run.

How do you update to 10? Is there a free download or is it a case of take it in for someone to do it?
By the way it’s a dell precision T5500 intel Xeon if that is any help?

That's still pretty good.

Back everything up first, you don't want to lose anything.

Its not actually that hard to install it but it's best you do a clean install (so you wipe everything and start a fresh).

If you can get hold of a disc is not too hard.

It’s not widely advertised by Msoft but they do offer a free 10 upgrade. Did both mine and wife’s laptop in Feb. Hopefully it’s still available.
