all french leagues cancelled (16 Viewers)

Couple of important points.

This isn't down to the football authorities, its down to the French government prohibiting all sport until September at the earliest. Our leagues seem to have been left to decide for themselves with some media outlets reporting the government is keen for sport to resume as soon as possible.

There are reports the authorities will meet next month to decide on promotion and relegation. The more leagues that don't void the better for us. Hard to think of any method the EFL could use to determine promotion and relegation that doesn't involve us going up.

Don’t be setting efl a challenge to find one as no doubt the horrible Clarke will be looking for one.

to void the season would be madness, what if a team were champions already take the trophy back off then.

The French have announced League 1 and 2 will no longer be completed. Standings will be worked out to a system yet to be determined. basically means current standings will be used with possibly a ppg to finalise it. So I fully expect our EFL will (when they finally get their heads out of the sand) follow suit. Which will confirm our promotion. Keep the champagne on ice guys just a little while longer!

Would be nice for another league somewhere in Europe, to do just that, announce the season ended, but award on placing or PPG.

Would certainly help our cause I think
No-one has done that yet have they.

Their current plan is to resume on 9th May. They're waiting on government approval, Merkel is apparently meeting with regional leaders this week.

There's reports that if they don't get the go ahead over a third of clubs won't survive.

Think it'll be similar here, unless the clubs with all the money are feeling charitable

problem is that none of the issues in the prem or football league are mathematically resolved. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that the season will be declared void and we will be put in some restructured third division south.

Even if German leagues receive the go-ahead to resume playing competitive football,
I’m not sure we could expect many other European Countries to follow suit (inc us )
The German method of countering the virus has ‘so far proved very successful when
Compared to the UK, Italy, Spain and France.
They could well be in a position to continue, I’m not sure we and others are anywhere near.

I can accept it if we get promoted, if that is cancelled then assemble pitchforks and megaphones outside the FA headquarters
I’m not even giving consideration to any other scenario than void with promotion or finish the games. I don’t even know if I own a pitchfork.... I need to check the garage. And what does a socially distanced riot look like?

Dave is right this is due to the French government banning any sport until September but planning on reopening shops in a few weeks.

Strange decision

I'm on for £1k+ if we're champions and stake returned if voided :(

Cost me a fortune over the years as I always bet on us to win the league so would be sods law if I don't get paid out.

If the EFL were to void the leagues where would fans stand on bringing a collective action against them, on the basis that season tickets were purchased for a complete season with positive and negative outcomes for teams at the top and bottom. I wouldn't want a refund from the club but i would be mightily pissed off if I'd spent money for a sham season, particularly with it being 75% done.

If all the clubs and fans pitched in we could assemble the mother of all legal suits

Pboro chairman (apologies for posting on multiple threads)
More than likely these discussions have taken place before today's announcement from France and also UEFA...

Only one talking sense
The fifa doctor and the french government will have no baring on what happens in the uk.

The uk government wants sport to restart as it will allow them to keep the rest of the restrictions in place.
