One of my customers, a leading national discount store chain, is actively encouraging approaches from UK manufacturers and suggesting products prominently state ‘Made in UK’ on the packaging. This is a company whose stores have become increasingly dependent over many years on goods from China. They now want to significantly reduce that reliance to simplify logistics and in anticipation of customer backlash.

Bullshit from start to finish.

Hopefully theres some way that all the countries that have been affected by this can sue the arse off China. People losing their lives, jobs, homes through no fault of there own etc is disgraceful. China need to pay for what they unleashed on the world.

Has anyone ever paid compensation for a pandemic that originated in their country?
The Yanks are pushing for it but they've been responsible for two pandemics themselves and I'm fairly sure they never paid out compensation.

Interesting that France now states their first case was back in 2019.....adding more weight to the argument that it was here, spreading & mis-diagnosed throughout January....

France's first coronavirus case 'was in December'
I'd want a bigger sample than one tbh, to discount erroneous results.

It still makes little logical sense that we didn't find our hospitals overwhelmed by patients in January if that were the case.

I hear what your saying but that would put thousands on the dole. At our place they build about 8 months in advance so all the cars built are sold. Unless theyve all been cancelled then I imagine when we go back the powers that be will want them caught back and out the door asap to get some cash in the bank.
People won't extend themselves to keep others in work. A lot of people who would normally have had a new car now won't be able to have one. Business owners who would normally have had a luxury car will jeep what they have or downgrade when having another new car. That is the reality of the situation we are in.

Havent a clue. This is a bit different though surely? The world has come to a standstill through the Chinese not being honest. I just thought in an ideal world people who've lost loved ones who they're dependent on,jobs, homes could have some kind of compensation to help them out.

They have tested the sample from that same person several times and keep getting the same result.

The virus would have started slowly. It wouldn't have been thousands of people getting it from the first day.

Its just John Bull garbage- nobody will do anything, there will be no major 'backlash', and nobody can compete with China for value, nothing is going to change.

One quarter of the workforce furloughed, the biggest recession ever on the way, money is going to be incredibly tight- and people seriously think anyone is going to pay more than they need to purely in order to make some kind of political statement against China which will be ignored and ineffective anyway- its comical.

I'd want a bigger sample size than one, to discount erroneous results.

End of January is a month, not the first day.

I know the reality. I've been at home since March the 23rd. Undoubtedly there will be job losses. I just think it's a disgrace that people will be losing their livelihoods through no fault of their own.

As the yanks are potentially responsible for the 1918 spanish flu pandemic I'd love to see the compensation bill for that one.

Happens all the time. But most don't realise until it affects them personally. It is rarely the work force these days that sends companies under.

That person was tested in 2019.

The virus was being hidden from the world in 2019. Remember the doctor who got arrested for speaking out in China? He ended up dying from the virus. So nobody outside China got it? We have thousands of visitors from China.

I'm convinced we had it in Feb. All the drs asked was if we'd been to China or been near someone who'd been to china, as we said no they just said it was flu despite us having had the flu jab. I had it quite mild but I've never seen the missus so poorly literally bed bound for a week, I was on the verge of phoning an ambulance 3-4 times as she couldnt breathe and her temperature took 5 days to come down to normal..

hahaha

You really are clueless.
He has a point though.

No one is going to give a rats were something us made and the vast majority of things will be made in china still.

UK manufacturers do not have the capacity or ability to charge china level prices.

In what could be a great depression level event no one will want to pay the increased costs.

In that case you crack on, I look forward to China being forced into economic submission by the combined industrial powerhouses of Astute and Ernie.
You hate it when someone shows you to be wrong. Why not just admit it.

Or would you like to point out where I said China would be overtaken by anyone? Of course not. You just do a G and make your own story up.

Exactly. The UK is floundering, next up is Brexit, the whole country is going to be strapped for cash, and we are a million miles away from being anywhere near as competitive as China.

You put your Union Jack stickers on everything, the Chinese will sell it for much less- and we'll see what people choose.

Its bullshit. Cloud cuckoo land, impossible- but if it makes you feel good then you keep on proudly waving the Union Jack & continue as you were.

As I said, you're clueless.

...and unlike you I don't need to bullshit about anything, I really don't.

Presumably all other countries would be liable for things like Swine Flu, BSE, etc.
Didn’t we spread foot and mouth through the EU by exporting cattle contaminated with it. I’m sure we all remember the cow bonfires of 2001. Ironically the government also cancelled Cheltenham that year to stop the spread.

Easy to find a bogeyman, stops people having to look inwardly.

But hey, we know that kind of thing works, alas.
The vegans should sue the meat eaters. After all this was a zoonotic virus that jumped a species because a meat eater ate another species that was carrying it. Where do we want to stop going with this?

You have any evidence on this?
