Originally thought the bloke died from the crash but turns out he was detained by the public and died.

I went past the scene an hour and half after it happened and the two cars involved were seriously damaged. The impact was a really big one from the state of the vehicles. The police were everywhere at the time and had shut off the right turn from A45 to town. I'd heard afterwards that one person had tried to run away and then died. It wouldn't surprise me if it was caused by the impact as it seemed a bad one.

I dont get why people cant navigate an island. How did some people pass there driving test?
I get what you're saying but if you're not familiar with that island it's easy to see why it's confusing. Coming from the Broad Lane in either direction there's a give way onto the island but then 25 metres ahead there's a set of lights on the island. People see the green light ahead of them and go.

Not to mention they've added in extra lanes where there's not really room for them. Not pleasant when you find yourself sandwiched between 2 artics.

Yeah point taken I suppose. I'm just used to it now. I do prefer the old layout tbh.

It's a nightmare junction. Lights everywhere and you're not quite sure which ones relate to you. Half the time if you kept the box junction rules you'd never be able to get out because someone else will block it. Then there's always one who cuts you up. Then you've got the pedestrian crossing just past the junctions. You don't just need eyes in the back of your head you need them around your entire head. For me the quick rule should be if it requires lights it shouldn't be a roundabout.

It was much better as a crossroads and safer. It was changed from a roundabout initially due to people being killed on it. Considering it was supposed to ease traffic congestion there's more queues now than there ever was before leading down the A45. Only used to get them that bad if the M6 was shut and it was used as a diversion.

True, but too many.people when realising their mistake (in general here, not specifically talking about this island), try and cut back across lanes to get in the right one.
Woman nearly took me out up Rowleys green when she missed the exit for beduff.
Just go round the fucking island again or come of the wrong exit, turn round and get back on the island, FFS. Will take you 2 extea minutes top instead of risking people lives

Yeah, if you don't know the roundabout it could be confusing.

I always get cut up on the one by Gallagher, they just drift lanes without realising.

This is so true. If you make a mistake just go with it and figure out how to get back on the right road, everyone has sat nav these days anyway. On more than one occasion I've seen people reversing on motorway junctions because they've fucked up or cutting across multiple lanes when they realise too late they're at the junction they need.

Standard of driving in general is appalling. You don't have to be on the road for very long to see someone do something stupid.

The council seem obsessed with adding lights to roundabouts and I can't think of anywhere they've done it thats worked.
Tollbar would be carnage if they removed the lights, tbf. And would have been totally impassible before the by-pass bit.

A45 isn’t the council though, it’s Highways Agency, Broad Lane will be so maybe some of the blame to the council.

The council do have an obsession with lights though, Foleshill Road proves that.

Approx quarterof £million for a complete set of traffic lights. Highways engineers love them but all they think about is efficient traffic flow rather than safety needs and fail to consider pedestrians and cyclists. They over engineer everything and live in fear of criticism from local councillors. Rarely do they design proper safe attractive streets that take all of our needs into account and look awful.

They assumed that the Gibbet Hill Road/Kenilworth Road crossroads being turned into a roundabout (with no signals) would ease the congestion round the university, but it's still backed up to the main entrance every day (except at the moment, obvs!). It's just too much traffic!

Fucking speed people go down broad lane. Feels like a 40 but it’s a 30 so people do 50. Wankers to a man. They’ve put speed signs up that show your speed but it makes no difference. Needs average speed cameras.

Irritating as fuck. I just undertake them now. I shouldn't but I just cant be arsed to sit behind them for mile after mile.

Had one coming up the M5 a few years ago. Older guy just sat in the middle lane. Watched someone overtake himm in fast lane, cross over to the left hand lane, slow down so the old guy overtook them, pulled out again and overtook him again. Did this half a dozen or so times doing donuts around him.

I have been guilty of this, fully appreciate it isnt the best driving in itself, but its a fun game, my record is circling someone 3 times before they got the hint! The A46 towards Warwick is easy pickings for this!

Have you had them when they sit there in the middle/outside lane for ever and a day,you eventually get pissed off and undertake them and then they have the nerve to flash you!! Wtf.

My dad is really bad for it. I do anything to avoid being in the car with him. No indication or anything then sits there oblivious to the queue behind him.
