I can understand an air of panic but people on here are becoming slightly to prone to panic as we are nowehere near the beginning of next season!!!

A lot has to happen between now and then, the first of which is finding out realistically which players out of contract are willing to stay and which are willing to go to free up wages. This step is gathering pace and think it is really only Crainie left of the freebies who could go for nowt.

Then we have to weigh up people of value.....not many with limited time left on their contracts. The most obvious one is Keogh......I cannot think of many more players in this scenarion that would fetch decent offers. If we get decent offers then maybe we have to lost them for greater good of club though clearly would reather keep if at all possible.

The players who were there let themsleves down last year and imo a clean sweep of the board is no bad thing! If it takes us down to 13 players by June 1st so be it.....the season does not start till August.

Once dust has settled we will need signings and we will need to make better use of loans as most teams in League 1 do.

People who are panicing saying we only have a squad of 13 players now clearly do not understand most teams end of season procedures. I guarantee we will get players in....whether we get enough in for the start of the season who knows......think people are grasping for their revolvers and being a little too pessimistic currently though.

Cheers

Have you forgotten pre season last time around and do you seriously think things are going to be any different? I'd say panic is justified

Yeah we all thought the same last season. And then week by week went and then it was September so I reckon we are right to be worried

Last season we lost nearly every 1st team player. We replaced them with 2 GK's and an unfit striker that had been playing in Div4.

You are right, nothing to worry about when players are leaving our club

BTW I am not amongst the worried fans.........yet. But I would get the point of the fans that are worried about what is happening at the moment. Once bitten..............

So far we have not got rid of a player I see as important for us next season. That could soon change. Then I would be added to the worried fans that need to see signings.

Down to 13, so at least 12 new signings of decent league one standard required then, yes you are right we are a bit silly panicking.

Wish I had thought about it this rationally before now. I can definitely see SISU going for 12 new signings.

Now that's all sorted I am off for a nice relaxing camomile tea.

Every reason to panic. It's rather as though Sisu are the hostage takers in a hyjack, bumping off the bodies one by one until their demands are met. Meaning - the demands are to get half the arena and in the meanwhile, turn up the heat by getting the fear factor going. Bunch of bastards !!
Dont think for a minute we will get like for like replacements for the outgoing. If I was a city player, I would be wanting out. This cannot be good for motivation. As a fan it's bad enough !
If I believed Platt was a one off I might not worry but we have no strikers to speak of, where are the goals going to come from ? Perhaps Dunn might get lucky !!
If they keep culling, perhaps they can do a Portsmouth, have the embargo lifted and get a squad of loan players pn on the cheap. No long term contracts or commitment.
Sisu - just Fuck off !!

I don't remember that.

No, he means the poster named Astute, not as in "You, Sir, are being most astute!"

Although I'd say that although Astute was more tolerant of SISU maybe a year ago, the fact that he feels the way he does now adds even more weight to his sentiments. It suggests that people who gave them a chance have long since had enough-and Astute is no the only one, most CCFC fans probably come under that banner. I never like them, but then I'm a bit of a Commie when it comes to Capitalism and Hedge Funds in particular, having worked for a company that was once bought then eventually liquidated by one!

We're nowhere finalizing the accounts either! Or settling the rent issue to do the accounts to lift the transfer embargo to allow AT to bring in the - what are we up to now? Nine required players for next season?

Don't the Football League require the account info for the end of this month? :thinking about:

Spot on. I agreed with what they were doing and reducing the wage bill. It had to be reduced. But when I saw who they left us with at the start of the season and still got rid of more players I saw through their bullshit. I held my hands up and admitted I was wrong on what they were doing.

Now we have to wait and see if we get shafted again. Have they learned from their mistakes? Hardly any big earners are left now. They have no excuse of high wages for players on not being able to bring players in.

If you like you can find the last time I quoted anything differently. Yes, I was one of the last ones to lose trust in them. If they had replaced players with cheaper ones as I thought they would things would have been different

the hysteria you talk of is because this is exactly what happened this time last year but possibly even worse....we lost all our out of contract players, thorn says he has his targets and all he has to do is go bang bang bang and they sign etc etc and all we got was 2 goalies and we only got them because we had to as we didnt have any.
i can see us losing Mcpake ,craine, keogh, and maybe wood on top of the players that have already left and with bell and mcdonald never 100% fit and dont forget we cant sign anybody we are going to end up doing a plymouth or luton and drop down even further!!!!!

As typical city fans we need to expect the worst and normally get it so the worry and panic is justified! So many years gave we seen our fair club decline and now we have sunken to the depths of the third division with signs of it getting worse with lackmof resources and more promises that wont come to the forefront. Panic justified!

One of the reasons we went down was the small size of the squad and playing too many injured players or players hampered by playing in Pampers. So now we have lost a number from this already understrength squad and whilst SISU, council (especially Mutton), Higgs charity all posture, stall, bluff and bluster nothing is going to change in a positive sense. Until SISU sign off accounts and embargo is lifted things will get worse, potential targets will get fed up waiting and sign elsewhere and others who might be wavering will leave. The pointless non stories from the CT are doing more harm than good at moment by muddying the water, raising expectations without substence and deflecting focus from getting a deal done and having a club for next season.

Panic - no lets all just sit back, tune up the Stradivarius and fiddle while the club burns.

I can see why there is some panic as I said in my opening sentence but lets see what develops in the next month.

There are also not many 30 man squads in league 1 that do not involve at least a proportion of youth or loan signings to boost the coffers. I think people expecting a 25 man squad of seasoned pro's clealry have not done the math.

Of the players who we have released overall I do not think we can have too many complaints with decision, none of them really contriubuted to decent levels last season. Clingan wanted to go so good luck not too bothered about keeping a man with two relegations already on his cv! Eastwood - good riddance, Ireland fair enough. Platt debatable I liked him personally but think we can get someone in who is more hungry, younger and probably a lot cheaper.

There are a lot of unanswered questions at this time of the year but there is with most clubs all are restructuring with players out currently. I am hoping that we will all see where we are going more by the end of next month.

The problem is, so many people on this board see things in just two shades. If you are not vehemently slagging off SISU at every opportunity then you apparently "love" them or "worship" them.

When they arrived I made the mistake of posting that I'm glad they'd saved us and they'll be good for the club because Joe Elliot has said so. Since then I've been labelled. No, I don't slag them off constantly, I let others do that, but I also recognise that there is no one out there at the moment who seems to be willing to take on CCFC. When they go I will be as pleased as everyone else.

Spot on. I agreed with what they were doing and reducing the wage bill. It had to be reduced. But when I saw who they left us with at the start of the season and still got rid of more players I saw through their bullshit. I held my hands up and admitted I was wrong on what they were doing.

SISU will kill the club, its simple, as now they have proven so untrustworthy, neither fans, co-investors, lenders, sponsors, football league officials, players or anyone associated with football and this club will submit to their blackmail and lies. No one believes they want to do any more than walk away with a profit from CV6 in anyway they can. They will do as someone else suggested...........carry on tearing the playing squad up piece by piece to see if they can't get their own way. I wish someone would burn their fucking headquarters down with all of them in it for what they stand for. Absolute scum !!

:D  They make me miserable everytime I put any footie on the Tv or turn to any of the fans forums for a bit of City info. Its the same depressing downward spiral caused by a bunch of out town hedge fund fortune seekers. I can't believe that they are being allowed to do this to a sports club founded in 1883, which is an institution, a legacy to a City for generations. They think they can destroy it at a whim in their single minded pursuit of profit. wankers !!

Worst case scenario with new contracts gives us this team:

Murphy
Clarke McPake Wood Hussey
Thomas
Bell Deegan
McSheffrey
ROD McDonald

S: Dunn, Christie, Cameron, Bigi, Baker, Jeffers

Apart from a striker that first team is OK. Just need to add some depth. 3 or 4 loans and a couple of frees and well be alright I think.

Of course if we lose any of the above we'd need to replace them.

I'd like to see this squad by August:

Murphy, Dunn, Burge
Clarke, Christie
NewCB Wood, McPake, Cameron, Willis, Henderson
Loanee, Hussey
NewDM, Thomas
Loanee, NewCM, Deegan, Bell, Bigi
McSheffrey, Baker, Roberts, Ruffles
Loanee McDonald, NewST, Jeffers, Daniels

That's 4 signings, 3 loans and ROD and Keogh out the door. I think that's doable.

I'm not being sarcastic shmmeee, but Southampton toyed with us, then made us look distinctly second rate, before smacking our arses and sending us to bed, all this to a team far superior to the one you have on paper. Unless there are at least...8-9 signings, we will struggle "Big time"

Taken on board, but we got a beating by Bury in the Cup, given a lesson in how to play football against Morecambe and "Friendlies" we were decidedly poor....Now some will say "Friendlies don't count".....I beg to differ, they do!

Sorry to repeat a post.....Champions of a much better division...I don't disagree with that statement...Better strikers than we will play against this season...Don't disagree with that statement either.....but if you can see where I'm coming from.....we will be fielding a totally decimated team in this lower division. Bury play in this league and beat our "Better team"...Morecambe beat us 2-0, and are in the league BELOW that!
There are much better teams than Bury, and Morecambe to play in league 1...See what I'm saying?;)
