That's ok - different opinions. I don't recall much joy for example under the Don Mackay era as we booted the ball into space for 90 minutes - now that was rubbish.

The style of play of this team is as good as I have seen in 40 years (we've had brief periods before of playing with style but not as consistently as this); and the turn-around on the pitch over 3 years has been remarkable.

I've celebrated our key goals just as much as I did in the Premiership years; and even more so particularly at Notts County away and in the play off final.

Watching a club is all about individual perspectives and memories; and I view our rise from L2 under very difficult circumstances off the pitch as nothing short than epic.

To be honest, at any point in the past few years I'd have snapped your hand off to say we'd be in championship next season.

I'm personally in no great hurry to be in the Premier League. Some huge games, local derbies in the championship... I'm not personally relishing the fact of a thrashing away to Bournemouth just so we can say we are a top flight club.

As I've always said Grendel; if we beat Liverpool in the Champions Cup final 5-0 with our global superstar number 10 also finding a cure for cancer on the flight back, you'd still find something to complain about.

How anyone could not have enjoyed the ride over the past 3 years is beyond me but it's all about individual memories. I do see your argument - there's certainly a case to be made that top flight football is more enjoyable and the pinnacle as it showcases the best players. I get that.

Just from my perspective the last 3 years have been truly remarkable in the position that we were in and have provided my best memories of watching the club.

Have to agree with MR. He's had a couple of weeks where the wheel seemed to come off, but by god he's turned it around.
Probably the only time I can recall wanting Villa to stop up!
We will most likely struggle to pay the bills next season and I expect MR and Body will have to negotiate wages and transfers ... however the rest of the pack may also be handicapped playing BCD for a while. Perhaps that gives us an additional few months to barter over the Ricoh?

This is why I mentioned the wage cap, and how they enforce it, a club like Sunderland could be looking to offload big earners for next to nothing. It wasnt a sign Willis at all cost kinda post. We'll have to wait a see what happens with it.

Pessimism returns with again I see. If we go up to the Premier league then the club will transform with it. The same applies to next season in the championship. Fortunately we are a club with some pedigree and substantial fan base. That makes a difference for a number of reasons. Seeing us play at the highest level again is a target we must aim for. We can face the consequencies of how we stay in the next level when we get there, but with each level better players will arrive, and motivation for those players will also be a factor. If we were say Fleetwood trying for the same thing then perhaps for obvious reasons your lack of optimism would have a point, but Bournemouth have proven that theory unfounded too. Leicester are surely our shining example? Same sort of size club, went into admisistration, got some investment and went on to win the premier league. Who would have thought it? So come on you can't predict the future with any certainty, but a decent size football club can at least expect a certain level to make it sustainable.

I dunno, struck me that was just to keep posh involved in the hunt as they'd drop out of the traditional play off places under ppg. Not sure why other teams would go along with it.

Doesn't it also put Sunderland in the play offs. Oxford fans are not happy with that.

Also some of them are pissed our match never happed Vs Wycombe as would have changed there PPG if they had lost to us.

As there is only 1 point separating 3rd to 8th in our league and the EFL have mentioned "innovative solutions" to finish the season, 6 or 8 team playoffs have been mentioned for League 1 to try and keep everyone happy. I think looking at the table 8 team playoffs might be a stretch as Doncaster & Ipswich are fairly cut off now. A 6 team play off would work the same way as the national league play off system.
