I'm more freaked out at the fact some people have no fears. I see them on TV shows in supposedly safe surroundings but doing really brave things when I can barely even watch let alone participate. Mainly surrounding heights which scares me anyhow, but some of them simply balls of steel.

But if you have no fear of something are you really being brave? I'm scared of heights (well, technically I'm scared of the ground), so going up a ladder I find very uncomfortable. However I'm not scared of spiders but there are some people that run off screaming at the sight of them. I'm not being brave when I pick it up and put it outside because I'm not scared of it.

Living alone the quiet means you hear every little creak and you can get quite paranoid about all the little sounds you hear. I understand why some people constantly feel the need for background noise.

I used to look at the clock at exactly 11:11 almost every day, and I did it for years on end. I thought I was off my rocker. Then I Ask Jeevesed it (it was a long time ago) and it turns out it's quite a common phenomenon. Uri Geller even had a website about it at one point. I mean, the spirituality / supernatural element of it is utter bollocks in my opinion, but it does seem odd that so many people have a thing about such a specific time.

Weird. I was going to post about always noticing myself looking at the clock at 11:11. Been since I was a kid. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence though and now I notice it purely because I’m aware of it. I mean I look at the clock loads of times a day that aren’t 11:11.

I get that all the time and have for years.
I think of someone I haven't seen for a long time and I see them the next day. A song pops into my head randomly, I turn the radio on and that song is playing.
What it's all about and is there an explanation ? It freaked me out at first but now I accept it, and to be honest I reckon it's great !

Loud noises, particularly in the dark. Naturally our senses are heightened in the dark to try and detect something - so maybe it’s not just me.
But I’m talking on the brink of tears and vomiting, when it happens. In my last job we sometimes had to stay away from home. And we were in Plymouth in this shitty little Ibis. It was about 2am and some clown set off his smoke detector in his room, took it off the ceiling which then tripped the alarms in the whole place. So I’ve jumped out of bed screaming and crying pretty much, tripping over cables that I’ve got plugged in. Rushed out in just my boxers half asleep, half naked and hysterically rattled in front of my colleagues.

The only thing that bothers me is heights. I'm fine with natural heights - mountains, cliffs etc, but buildings??!! Urgh! I really and truly go giddy at the sight of them, even on TV, especially when being filmed from the roof or a high window, looking down at the street below! How people can live and work in those 100+ floor buildings..... But like I said, natural heights don't bother me. I did the 3 peaks challenge many years ago and stood on the edge of a ridge, 4,000ft up Ben Nevis, and just looked down at the fabulous sight below. I loved it!

My year also. I sometimes think about the year of birth but I tend to notice a digital clock showing the time at 12:34 more. I like to think back to my birthday in 1978 when the time and date read, '12:34 5.6.78'!

I've never been that bothered about snakes. I used to have one - a Garter Snake - and had him for about 2-2½ years from a tiny baby. Then one day he just turned on me while I was cleaning him out. Sank his fangs into my hand. He was about 2 foot long by then, but as they say, once bitten, etc. so he had to go. I gave him to a friend who I worked with, who also kept snakes, but strangely, she appeared a bit afraid of Jake when I told her that he'd bitten me!

There's 100% not microphones like everyone suspects. I think this is just the quality of online advertising targeting these days, and obviously the usual Frequency Bias (The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon) like a lot of stuff in this thread.

Interesting read. The only thing I remember about Baader-Meinhof, was that they were a terrorist group in East Germany in the early 1970's. Didn't they have something to do with the 1972 Olympic Games shooting of the Israeli team or was that someone else? Black September? Just seems a strange name to choose for this phenomenon.

On BBC 4 now there's a blind bloke who is a climber. Mega respect to him as I've done a bit of rock climbing in the past myself along with hill walking, and it can be scary even with good eye sight.
He's going to climb The Old Man Of Hoy in Scotland and I bet he will do it.
