Hello possible site for a new stadium?
Consider, underground carparking so no disruption to locals, situated fairly close to the city and station infrastructure already installed, just needs gutting and a pitch laid. even has a boardroom/ dining floor and escalators to get to the top of the stands (for old buggers like me who struggled with steps).
Bastard Council wont want it empty for long so maybe a deal with Ikea on the cards, they are Swedish, Seppala's half Finnish.......close enough.

Am I right in thinking this is the first IKEA in the uk to close down?

Surely it would be The Roland Nilsson Stadium of Light (fittings).

Build extra parking further away with shuttle busses/ pedestrianise with underpasses etc and it'd be workable to get to a from surely? As for it ever happening unfortunately no chance

I really like the idea, someone said traffic would be an issue which is a fair shout when you see a busy day around there. Very accessible through other means though so you’d hope nothing like the traffic you get at the Ricoh for the same crowds.

I've got a totally unique future use for it .
Sorry but I will not be sharing it as it could make me a billionaire .

We have known for ages it's gone, I don't know why the telegraph are going on like it's breaking news.

yes, it is. Never made money. They picked the wrong city for a site like that.

Could've picked any city - it was the experiment that was wrong in trying it city centre. The queues to get in off the ring road on a weekend could be horrendous - even worse than weekday rush hour. So it wasn't like it had no customers.

Just annoying that we've got so many retail parks around the city, most of which have stores that could be accommodated in a city centre site. Yet one of the retailers that genuinely suits (and arguably needs) that kind of site to make it easier for loading etc is done as a multi-level city centre store. Put it on say Gallagher, Ricoh etc and it'd have been fine.

I think it may end up being incorporated into City Centre South, which had become more entertainment oriented and could be used for stuff like the bowling alley or maybe a karting track to appeal to the younger market in addition to The Wave. Might even look at seeing if Escape Room or Laser Quest etc want to expand (depending on cost etc).

I had a similar thing with the old towers near the railway before they were demolished and thought they could be turned into hydroponic vertical farms as they're basically just multi-level greenhouses - loads of light coming in. Would just extend the economic use of such towers for a bit.

I swear if you go past by night you can still hear the rumblings of people inside still trying to find the exit.

Years to come and it could be featured on Most Haunted. Ghosts still vainly trying to find the exit.

Or they'll just find some new species that can only eat meatballs descended from those unable to find their way out.

Agree with this. Look at the great underground facilities as the Ricoh. With some careful designs we could have a very large car park under the ground. The only issue is policing but with CCTV everywhere it would be a bad place to start trouble.
