Hibs have been told they can sign James McPake for 100k (According to the Daily Record.)

The truth is McPake will go whatever. He wants to go and Thorn doesn't rate him. Even if we only had Cameron and Wood left they would be picked above McPake. He was on the bench last season when Christie was playing. Sometimes the face does not fit.

This is true ,he was Colemans boy,At prefers the more cultured C backs ,less of the brawn, same with Turner ,shoud see if he can bring back Elliot

yes when christie was playing as right back were mcpake doesnt play so i dont see your point as he's not going to drop keogh or craine and on top of that he wasen't fit.

I think the point duffy's making is if he was fit which he was at times ,and it has been known for managers to tell little white ones re;injuries Keogh could have reverted to RB where he was also excellent in the previous season, meaning more experience in the back line ,i think the same scenario befits Woods season ,and to be honest when he was in i got the impression he was'nt totally committed due to being a bit part player.

Sooner he goes the better. Out with the crap that got us relegated. In with the new. 20 decent blue square players would suffice for the trash league we are in

A rather curious theory. Where is the evidence that suggests this may work?

Are you joking? McPake WASN'T in the team that got us relegated. Keogh, Cranie etc were. I rate McPake and am certain he can do a job in League 1. Maybe we should have got rid of the 'cultured centrebacks' and brought the braun (fight) back to the players in the team instead of being that narrow minded that we stick with the same players just because they suit our current system.

The truth is though thorn did not like him. He wanted Keogh and Cranie as his defensive centre and probably rates Cameron and wood above him as well.

It's the same scenario as when Coleman wanted Elliot ward out. He signed numerous players and wanted anyone but him. Ward was an excellent championship defender and we let him walk for free. It's the same with Mcpake. If he stayed he would not get games.

Ward and Barnett weren't good enough for us but were half of Norwich's defence when they went up the following season; the latter a bit of a mystery.

a lot of people are saying he doesn't rate mcpake then why did he say i scouted him and i like him halfway through the season

Name one time in the season when he was 100% match fit like christie and keogh

I think Thorn just lost faith in him when he expressed the desire to go to Scotland. You can't blame the lad for wanting to get games in when they are recovering. McPake is a great defender who has been frightfully unlucky at Coventry. He'll throw himself at anything.

Got to call some people up on here about thorn rating mcpake. At the fans forum he said he very much rated him. He said McPake broke his back trying to win a football match for this club and that commitment deserves reward.

With the possiblity that both Cranie and keogh leaving we need to keep Mcpake. Then we'd have Wood,Cameron,Mcpake and Willis as our 4 centre backs. That's not to bad really!

Totally agree, although we will need to see how Willis pans out over a whole season which is a gamble so it is imperative to keep mcpake.

Well McPake leaving is a sad situation. I think he would be very good if he got a run in the team. i dont blame him for waiting to leave. if he goes all the best. However my issue here is that if he goes he wont be replaced and if he is may be by someone of a much poorer standard. Coventry have lost 6 or so players already and Bigi may be off Mcpake as well and suddenly we have no squad and they just wont be replaced..

What we have is getting smaller by the day. poor Andy thorn must be pulling his Hair out. Wait hair might not work here........

i think a fit McPake would be 1st choice centre half anyway alongside Keogh, or along side Cranie and Keogh at right back. Either way if he comes back fit at the start of the season - and he should do after playing for hibs, and is full of confidence for reaching the scottish cup final, i think we need to keep McPake and start with him. No nonsense defender, natural leader and organiser, take a bit of pressure off keogh and allow him to play a more attacking role and get forward a bit more.
