Loads I don't like, Ed Sheerhan is inexplicably popular. Only know one song of theirs but Toploaders 'Dancing in the moonlight' makes my teeth itch.

BBR impossible question as age changes views - of a certain age I think you retain a love for that music so for me For example it was Pink Floyd and David Bowie but i did not enjoy Bowie’s later albums at all the last i bought was Stage - I recently got all CCR albums and I would not have given them a second thought when at school enjoying my Black Sabbath , Budgie and AC/DC I have Now found them enjoyable to listen to -

I have bought Elbows latest album but I only played it once , I thought I would like it - I find a lot of modern music very samey and consequently on pop master as soon as a question on the last 20 years comes on I have no idea ! The only new music I have enjoyed has been Blues like Joanna Shaw Taylor and Joe Bonamassa

I listen to Planetrock all the time and enjoy a lot of the tracks but probably wouldn’t go and buy an album

in my Amazon basket to buy I have two albums Marillion Script for a jesters tear and Disturbed - ( that Sound of Silence tack is very powerful)

I worked with a Beatles fan years ago and he had all their singles and albums, in fact he was obsessed with them. Anyway we ribbed him constantly and he took it fairly well until one day he lost the plot. One of the lads said as a joke " Abba are a bigger band than the Beatles and have a bigger following. " Bang bang 2 punches and he decked the Abba joker ! We all left him alone after that incident.

I wouldn’t list them in my favourites but got to give them credit for their singalong capability - love Get Back , Lucy in the sky , Eleanor Rigby - very clever songs - bit like Elton John - clever writer - love The yellow brick road Album - such variety - I wouldn’t put them on but when I hear them I appreciate the music !

I was born in an RAF hospital near Lincoln where my dad was based. My dad was born in Coventry but my mum was born in Rugby & moved to Coventry when she was young

My late father was born in Northamptonshire, and my mum was born in the front room of her home in Walsgrave. My dad lived in Rugby growing up along with his 6 brothers and 3 sister's. A bit of a mish mash there !

Thing is most people would never get Hawkwind at all. I read some Michael moorcock books when young and I don’t know if that helped but they were my favourite band by a mile

It’s interesting as well how people then get loyal and ignore rubbish - after the 25 years on Hawklords album it really fell apart but you’d still kid yourself shite like choose your masques was vaguely good. They then produced Church of Hawkwind and that’s a time to stop pretending

Ha, had forgotten them. Formerly known as the Cliftones (after Clifton Hall), and Robbie Hood and his Merry Men!
Used to play at The Woolpack regularly. One of my favourite pubs in the early seventies (think Dive Bar...).

My 2 favourites are (don't laugh) Kate Bush and Enya, could listen to their albums for hours on end.

U2 have some decent songs but mainly crap, same with Nirvana.

If you like folk rock Clannad were a popular choice and Enya has haunting melodies. Kate Bush was a brilliant songwriter through the 70’s and 80’s - problem with U2 (seen them a few times) is they really wanted to be rock but never would appeal to that core genre and tried to straddle that with a bit of commercial pomp

Slightly different, as there’s loads of music I don’t like. But it really annoys me when someone says a particular type of music or an artist is “shit”. Not liking something doesn’t mean it’s shit.

“Real music” is even more annoying.

Agree with this, I like a wide range of music. Some I dislike intensely and consider it talentless but this of course is subjective so labelling something shit is purely a unsubstantiated opinion and has no merit beyond that. Also always annoyed me this oneupmanship on liking obscure bands and ridiculing popular ones.

Budgie supported Ozzy a couple of times. I saw them one Ozzy's first solo tour and at The NEC, very underrated band

I remember them and their awful 1 hit which was around 1977. I was at a wedding reception at the Engine pub in Rugby that year and the singer was there making sure everyone knew who he was.
