Not to get on a course, no. But my CV says that I have 6 GCSEs between A-D when in reality I only have 2. An A in Art and an A in PE. I failed everything else. Nobody EVER checks up on them though when you apply for jobs so I thought fuck it. I'll bend the truth slightly to make it look like I tried in school.

What exactly are you "blagging" and what course are you trying to get on?

Yeah I would say as long as it's not a relevant qualification for the job you are doing no one would check

Yeah but that is qualifications required for a course.

No one is going to check your GCSE or A Levels from 10 or 20 years ago

Daz, depends what type of course.
If it is an educational qualification, depending upon what maths/English grades you got, depends on what level course you can get on.
Also depends on whether you will have to continue to study maths or English in addition to your course. No matter what your age!
All FE establiments will check on a central database what you grades are as part of enrollment. Then will request certification.

Been offered the chance to do my nurse training , 2 days a week at uni 3 days with practical work . I have 20 years experience.
I could apply for a gcse maths course whilst studying but not sure if they would accept me

Are you saying you can't do the nurse training because you haven't got maths GCSE yet you've got 20 years experience? If so, this country sometimes beggars belief. We have a shortage of nurses but only want nurses who understand trigonometry!!

Its madness. Where I work, I know of loads of people shunned for jobs/promotions they've gone for over people with zero knowledge of the role but have qualifications.
I k ow a lady who was a contractor. She'd done the job for 16 years. Her role was becoming permanent so she had to apply for it. She didnt get the job as it was given to a young lad who had a random degree that wasnt even relevant to the job he had applied for, but because he had a degree, he was more desirable. The cheeky bastards then asked the lady to stay on an extra month to train him.

Daz. Who is saying you need a Maths GCSE?
Get the actual name of the course, and the assessing body and Google the entry requirements.
You technically have a Maths GCSE, but obviously the grading may (or may not matter)
I'd say, if you have been told to apply, they actually want you to do it. Therefore, depending on the entry requirements, there may be a route in. Speaking to your manager is obviously a good idea too.

If it’s Adult Nursing the maths and English requirement might be the NMC requirement as opposed to the Uni’s.

However, worst case scenario they may give you a maths test. If it’s Cov Uni I know a few people in the Admissions Team so if you have any problems drop me a message and I’ll see what I can do.

Good luck though and I personally wouldn't lie about the qualification as there will always be ways around it and certainly based on your experience.

And if somebody *did* find out there goes your career.

Even if it delayed applying for a year while doing the GCSE, in the long run that's the right thing to do.
