ANDY Thorn is hoping to keep hold of Gael Bigirimana after Coventry City received an approach from Newcastle United for the exciting young midfielder.
The Premier League club are understood to have offered between £500,000 and £1million for the 18-year-old talent who they want to join their development squad at St James' Park, similar to when Conor Thomas joined Liverpool 18-months ago.

People were talking like this could be the worse move in the world for Bigi. Looking at it objectively, his season went a little downhill after early promise. Unsurprising after an attritional debut season which witnessed relegation. Second season syndrome in a more physical league? Who is to say how it will pan out. He has undoubted talent and it should be nurtured. If he has watched any of Match of the Day, a move to Newcastle should pique his interest at least a little... Cheick Tiote Mark 2? The long and short of it is that, if it is true, SISU have not demonstrated much in the way of holding fast and resisting offers. It would be a shame if he didn't progress, but that is not a given. It will be a shame if the money is not reinvested, but that... Oh, bollocks.

Come on, man, have the balls to finally come out and say that SISU are an utter disgrace and deserve NO benefit of the doubt...that went out of the window a long time ago.

1 million, if that is true is substantial. I love Bigi, however we need numbers now. That could sign the wages for 3 to 4 players. That is if AT is allowed it. Also that is if the million is true.

It will NOT be £1m upfront.

In any case, they could offer £100m, it makes no odds to us as we know where the money is going....we'll all seen SISU's transfer policy since they 'saved' us.

The 'IN' door is jammed and they can't afford to fix it....they have asked Cov Council to do it for them, however.:facepalm:

Arrive in work to an email from a newcastle supporting friend of mine. What is this Gael like? mmmm hard one to answer. Guess he has bags of potential. Rushed into Coventry team where sometimes he looked good sometimes he looked out of his depth. Probably needs a few seasons of development and ti bulk up a bit in my opinion anyway.

We aint turning down 500,000+ so i wish him all the best. Be a long time before we see him in a newcastle first team.

He's a kid Dive, he was still only 17 at the beginning of the season, and he and Thomas are 3 years younger than Olly Norwood - Ofcourse they may have a tricky second season next year, but really they shouldn't be in the match day squad at this age let alone starting so regularly.

I think it will be a bad move for him, I can only think of 3 players to have come through newcastle youth team and be regulars in the last 10 years - Taylor, Ameobi, Carroll.

what happend to kieron Westwood who had a spell in team before coming down with flu and losing his place. He is good keeper saw him at the Ireland match on saturday and he was very good. he will be back in that sunderland side next year and in the meantime has a small trip to the euros to cheer him up. Hardley a reason to imply it was a bad move.

I think any offer for any player would be accepted by sisu, their not into football in any way shape or form, its cash in anything of a value and get their grubby hands on the ricoh and the land development potential around it

If we sell him now....im pretty sure we will have been able to get 10x more than the amount Newcastle are preparing to give to us in a few seasons time, people are saying sell him for £1m and get some decent players..? It wont go back into the club. And for those saying he won't get through Newcastle's academy, our academy is better than Newcastle's.. He will piss all over their academy with better facilities and coaches and be in the first team within a couple of seasons

Hes gone backwards since he burst onto the scene. I wouldn't be to bothered about selling him as long as we could reinvest the money in the squad. Otherwise we might as well keep him.

Absolute tosh. He burst onto the scene and everyone thought he was better than Connor. He just puts in solid performances, if he was played in his preferred position then he may be a better player.

He also gets told to hold back and pass sideways by the coaches and is being taught out of the way that he wants to play....does no-one remember the first few games of the season when he was doing step-overs and playing splitting through-balls...he has it all on his locker

Exactly, since moving up he has been stopped from playing freely like he did in the youth squad.

Bigirimana's season went downhill after the red card at home to Burnley, it seemed to change his playing style.

The lad is technically gifted and if someone can get him back to the style he was playing before that red card, he will only improve and improve as a footballer. Its quite obvious he's a top lad with an affinity to the club and isn't one of those young egotistical players who go around talking/acting/thinking they are some R'n'B start from the Bronx (seriously Jordan, you're not pledging your future to the club, no one else actually wants you) !

Turner was error prone and poor in his first 2 years as a professional at Coventry City and then after that he became one of our best players and most prized assets. Youth players improve, the aforementioned Jordan Clarke improved upon returning from injury, Cyrus Chrisite seemed to improve as the season went on and we can expect alot more from players like Bigi and Thomas next season if they continue to get experience and work hard to improve their games.

Bigi could be an asset to this club in 2-3 years. I for one, with the squad on paper looking the worst I've ever seen at Coventry, hope we can keep hold of him and watch him mature into an excellent box to box combative midfielder.

and as for how much he goes for, it is irrelevent as CCFC will not see a penny, so please dont add the usual "its ok if we get the £1m to re invest in the team blah blah blah" WE WONT.
sisu are asset strippers who dont give a shit about the club.

It's not utter tosh, he wasn't putting in solid performances. Numerous times he was hauled off at half time, remember Ipswich away live on sky sports? he was utter dreadful and was taken off before the end of the first half. Now, i'm not saying hes a bad player, he does have potential but he doesn't warrant hero like status he receives, he doesn't warrant a place in the first team. For the situation we find ourselves in, i'd happily see him go if he the money was spent on the squad.

Do you not think that a player out of position will put in a poor performance? Look at Crespo at Soccer Aid, brought on as a defender and he was poor. When he moved up front you could see that he is world class.

I said a few weeks ago (as I'm sure you'll remember) that I think we need someone like AB back. Some horrible little git with small mans syndrome that toughens the team up.

We sit in the same boat I think, It was aimed at the Thorn fans who think hes the best thing since sliced bread.

The money needs to be invested. Then it would be good decision to sell. Our squad is too small so if you get 3 players in exchange for Bigi. Then I am on with that. Just glad he is not going for 100k like mcpake. That is pathetic for s recent northern Ireland international. It should be 500k at least
