Does anyone know much about the 96/97 away shirt and the prototype concepts that came with it.

The red version is the away kit and Yellow was goal keeper.

As far as my understanding we had various colours to pick from and that an Orange, Green shirt exists as a concept with printed badges rather than the raised ones used and a few other defences.

Was there other colours ?

No other colours.

That picture you are referring to were samples -as all kit manufacturers do before finally decision is made.
Only the red & black & goalie was ever made.

If it’s this one Coventry City Football Shirt, 96/97 ProtoType, Size XL, Very Rare, Used | eBay

Edit:-been reliably informed that not fake but seem to come from USA & always in big sizes.

Prototypes/samples aren’t always of the same quality of build as originals as you can tell with badge!

Some debate whether they were a Le Coc template that has had city badges added later.

Cheers for the info on them. Have always wonder about them and seen a few of the green ones for sale in the states and a few pop up for sale now and again.

I guess like all unofficial releases some will be real and rare and others not so much.

Not sure if I will bid on it. as not sure its worth.

Are they actually genuine? Seems a bit of a coincidence that nobody had every heard of these until it became easier for people to produce knock off retro kits.

Chief-these have been around for a while but no way to verify esp as badges really dodgy.

Most serious collectors avoid them for that very same reason.

You right though-the knock offs (& the people selling them) are rife. Especially given the way the market has gone bonkers price wise.

I have quite a few non-City shirts that I might put up just because of the price they’ll fetch!
