The ref overturned a goal when the linesman never flagged and he was 20 yards away behind play... Awful decisions cost us

This is the bit I don’t understand. How can the ref tell it’s offside when the persons who job it is to check for offsides doesn’t think it was.

Ok, so they may have made a mistake in real time (without camera angles and pausing the pictures) but stop being silly saying that the assistant referee was 20 yards behind the play.

I didn’t realise he’d formed part of the new commentary team. Not sure how I feel about that to be honest.

As for the new guy who took the phone in, not keen on him either!! Was he a stand in or a permanent fixture?
Stand in for Clive Eakin, don't know where he was, probably at the cricket.

But I will say this, Clive is definitely training Oggy well, getting players names wrong ect and before the game against Bolton, Oggy said he thought Junior Brown had a good game against Southend.

Watching the match on ifollow now. 30 mins in jobello looks decent. Rose and mcfadz confident. Mason looking to beat a man which is something I never saw once last season. Dabo playing perfectly well, don't understand the stick he's getting so far. Baka hasn't touched it once

For the second goal, both the linesman and the ref were in conversation for several seconds. The linesman didn't initially flag for offside or start running back to the half way line to indicate a goal. He made no decision. They presumably were discussing what had just happened. Certainly the linesman didn't decide immediately that the goal was offside. The delay for the first was even longer. The goal was given and then disallowed after perhaps 30 seconds? On this occasion I don't recall the linesman flagging at all. Having watched it back, I can't see how Jobello could be given offside as Shipley cuts the ball back. Was Shipley offside from Kelly's through ball? I can't remember where the resultant free kick was taken from.
Hard to judge from the highlights for the third goal. Certainly when the ball reaches Max he is in an offside position. It would be interesting to see where he was when Kelly first struck the ball.

Robins said in his interview that he had no doubt the third was offside

We certainly need a couple of loans.
I don’t think we can play Shipley and Westbrook in the same midfield,
Hiwula, Baka, and Biamou arn’t capeable at this level, but MR either dosnt see that, or can’t do much about it.
So the pressure is surely going to mount on Allan and Godden.

Hiwalu is far capable at this level 13 goals last season from out wide.

Problem is last year we had players who could carry us if 1 or 2 were not flying this season we can’t afford that yes he can pop up with an important goal but over 90 mins does he offer us enough ?

Hiwula is fair value for L1 striker and a L1 striker for a reason, his inconsistency in front of goal. A few seasons his hit 9 goals in the league and 12/13 in all competitions. He’s got the ability but inconsistencies are his down fall. He’s still knocking on the door of around a 1 in 3 man

On the players who carried us at times last year we’ve replaced or signed prior/after a sale of players who look to be able to perform.

Thomas - Jobello
Bayliss - Allen
Chaplin - Godden
Enobakhare -

Only Bright Enobakhare is the area we’ve yet to or been able to replace and we can add Kastaneer to the list of players arrived who were yet to see likewise Allen.

Seasons very young, a long way to go

Kastaneer might be able to replace Enobakhare. Will have to wait and see when he's fit.

I think that had the initial ball from Kelly gone straight through to Shippers it would have been onside, but there was a little flick on from Baka which left Shipley offside. Fine margins. Jobello definitely wasn’t offside as you have said.

Was the flick/ deflection definitely off Bakayoko, or off the defender? I'm presuming it was Bakayoko, but I've not seen a close up to be 100% sure.

Can we all calm down here. We have only played team so far in the bottom half of the league, bigger tests to come :)

While I sympathise with the plight of Bury and Bolton, if they were to be removed from the league, will all the other League 1 teams get 3 points each for each of their games against them and will we have to be happy with just 1 point from our match versus Bolton? Anybody know?

No, we will lose our one point Tranmere lose their three and obviously teams due to play Bolton or Bury have the week off it equals out eventually. Will be interesting though at the end of the season when fixtures are supposed to kick off at the same time EFL might have to re-gig the fixtures that day

Good point. I think if they lost both teams it'd make it easier because then you could take the teams Bury and Bolton should've been playing (Fleetwood and Oxford apparently) and postpone one of their fixtures and re-arrange it for the final day. Final day Oxford should be at home, Fleetwood away so I'd choose that one.

Bizarrely having just looked it up that is Oxford's penultimate home game anyway so it'd only be being played a couple of weeks late.

If it's just Bury then it becomes a lot harder and in that case the only thing they can do is just sit watching everyone else play. Hopefully for Fleetwood there wouldn't be anything riding on it but at least they'd know in advance if they needed to do something.

Thread of the season... The one with the SkyBluesTalk meltdown.

Deserves a bump.

Talk about over reactions. We've had the most embarrassing result in the clubs history, to we're going to be languishing 17th in the table come the end of the season.

We've played 2 games, haven't been beaten, haven't conceded a goal and have 4 points.
Some of you need to put the keyboard away for a few hours.
