I thought the Championship was a bit much for him last season but looking at how he managed Marlon and a whole host of others with his hard man approach, I think he'll be one of the leagues best defenders. What do we think?

he's not bad, and should do well in league 1. my worry with him is you know he'll make 1 or 2 silly mistakes every game, if he can cut that out and play the 'no nonsense defending' game he should do well

But wasn't Ben Turner making 1 or 2 silly mistakes every game when he was first making his way in the side?

Cameron is still young, but as with Ben Turner the key is to how you learn from your mistakes.

People have a tendency to judge youngsters in the same light as they would established professionals. Someone who's still in their teens isn't the finished article and folk do need to bear that in mind.

I think he has got the right attitude. Reminds me of the younger Ben Turner... but probably a bit more reliable that BT was.

Remember how he played against Watford? Threw himself on the line all the time-and had a goal chalked off for no good reason!

Hrs good...... Until he gets the ball at his feet. That's when I worry. Ge was brought in at a time that the long ball game was working and seems to be unable to change that part of his game.

Otherwise I think he will do well in League 1.

In theory, a defence of Clarke - Wood - Cameron (or a n other if we can sign one) - new left back will be alright (on paper atleast). I do think Hussey is hood going forward, but he's another that worries me defensively

thats my point, if he can cut out most of those silly mistakes he will be a great player for lg1, and a decent championship defender. He's still young and got a lot to learn yet, so would be better playing alongside a more experienced centre half partner i.e. Keogh, McPake or Wood

definitely one to kep hold of for me, shown a lot of promise and will be good for us for years if we keep him

Cameron has come on leaps and bounds since the start of the 10/11 season. Put in some really mature performances towards the end of last season, barring injury he will most likely be first choice come the start of this season.

I also worry when the ball is at his feet, if we are looking for a stopper though Cameron would be great. The size and strength of the lad is incredible for a player so young, put in some great performances when he played last season. Was looking immense vs Palace and Birmingham I think it was and then unfortunately got injured.

Was happy not to see him as a regular last season, largely due to the reasons above. As said though, some performances later in the season impressed so hope he stays. The mistake proneness could be less of a problem in this league - though still something to be managed.

In the Prem if a defender makes a mistake the odds are it will get punished. If a Champ defender makes a mistake there is a decent chance it will get punished. If a Div3 defender makes a mistake then it might get punished.

We are now in a division where top teams loan their players to so they can get experience. They will rarely come across top players. It will help them in the learning process without having their confidence knocked all the time. We will have to see how it goes. Most of our younger players, including Cameron, held their own in the Championship most of the time. We could see all of them step up next season.

I am really not sure about him suddenly growing into the best centre back in League 1 (not least because I would struggle to name more than half a dozen others). He is not as good a centre back as Keogh, Cranie, McPake and Wood, so we would have to flog all them first. Cameron does worry me at times and I don't think anyone can be absolutely certain how he will pan out. Ben Turner used to worry me and came good. Leon Barnett used to worry me and was consistently shit for us. There is a difference between voicing an opinion about a player to mates or on a forum / writing a young player off. We are all Cov fans, I would be shocked if there was a single person who valued saving face by calling situations correctly over the team and players doing well to prove them wrong.

Cameron improved as the season went on. Next season I think he will continue to improve and be up against lesser players. He could do really well in D1 which will do wonders for his confidence, which in turn will help his improvement. He could become a really good player for us.

Will be the best CB in the league by a long chalk.

Matthew Lowton
Harry Maguire
Scott Laird - Great signing fro Preston

plenty more but cant be bothered to argue...

Love the optimism, but pretty sure cameron wont be the best CB in league league, never mind "by a long chalk"

I like Cameron, he'll get better next season, in fact a season in League 1 might do a few of our youngsters good.

We need to hold on to Murphy and Wood and we've got a decent starting back 5, to be honest it's further up the field that worries me. We seem to produce defenders no problem, but who was the last academy striker to stake a regular claim in the first team?

Jeffers, right now! He's more than "staked a claim", he'll be claiming the No.9 shirt as his own!
