In the Lithuanian capital they opened up the town square so bars could have outside seating and a pop up pub even if their bar wasn’t in the main square.

Wonder if this would be considered with Broadgate to let The Botanist, Cosy Club etc expand out?

Drove past the Millpool earlier and they have been doing up the inside and were starting to paint the benches and think they put on their FB page they were opening mid-July.

I think pubs with big gardens/outdoor seating such as the Millpool, Red Lion, Maudsley etc. will obviously be more successful and will be interesting to see how other pubs react.

We were talking about it the other day and wondering whether pubs will expand out into their car parking space to put in extra tables etc. Anyone know whether pubs can do this? And by this I mean it is not again their licensing agreement etc.

There was some talk of pubs lobbying to get licensing laws changed for that sort of thing

You’d have to imagine that there would be a temporary loosening given the current situation?

And would obviously mean my locally frequented pub of choice would open up quicker and allow more people in. :emoji_heart_eyes:

Theres a guy on good morning britain who is some sort of medical expert.

The same guy tweeted about how Corona wasn't that much of a big deal back in January and is now whinging the government under estimated it.

That sunderland fan journalist is an utter prick though.

Bloke on This Morning saying how social distancing is followed at shops while they show a clip of a massive queue at a Primark with no social distancing.

my son is at college but he works part time in a hotel and has been put on furlough. He's been called into a meeting today. I'm expecting them to tell staff there's going to be a partial re-opening of the bar and restaurant areas in the next few weeks.

Anyway, a friend runs a club night over in 6 finger land and they worked out that even with social distancing down to 1m the venue could only get 20 people inside.

I know clubs are a long way off opening but lots of pubs will have the same issue. Think of some of the only pubs in the city centre like the town wall.

2 million children haven't done any school work.

Is that all the government's fault? How much of the fault is with parents who haven't forced it on their children?

Once you move to remote online learning then it does start to create issues. Access to the internet, houses sharing only 1 or 2 devices (especially if parents are working at home too) - the fact the government had to suggest they’d fund equipment for kids at home means that it was going to be a challenge (they didn’t actually do it BTW - they started and it tailed off like most of their Coronavirus initiatives)

But yes there are also a big chunk of disengaged kids (whose parents may well have had similar experience at school) that aren’t working and yes some culpability is on them as parents. Whenever we get back to being in school it’s going to be a big issue.

There are always ways that you can keep your kids engaged with education. I have worked from home for weeks and have had to find ways to keep my daughter engaged, whether it's chucking iPlayer on for their decent stuff. Documentaries on Netflix or educational games if she has done all of her school work. It has been stressful trying to work, answer a work call and sort out what she was doing at the same time but it has needed to be done.

Yes, not every kid will have a laptop which is where schools should have opened their IT rooms up so kids could go in and use the computers for their work.

If parents have wanted to push their kids to learn it isn't all about a laptop all of the time.

Think I read that the DfE has ordered 200,000 devices for disadvantaged students but they won’t be ready until the end of the month. Schools did open up for children of key workers for them to use the IT facilities I think, at least they have at mine. Vulnerable children were also entitled to this but I’m not sure how many of those went.
