for the last two months and i doubt this month's, how much did the council make from the coldplay gig? In fact i wonder how much has the council made from all the gig's and various events held at the ricoh?

Assuming the council doesn't hand the arena over for nothing they must make a tidy sum.

Unlike other debts if you fail to pay the Council you can end up in prison. The council are obliged to try to help you resolve it but in the end you will have to pay. they can send in Bailiffs to remove goods which would be sold to pay it off but if they don't raise enough that way you still have to pay the difference. If you go to jail over it the debt is still there when you come out. The thing to remember is that all these other actions cost money and the bill for all of it is added to your debt.

That's just council tax legislation. It doesn't relate to rent for a stadium

Presumably ACL could serve a winding up order on CCFC if they wanted to bring matters to a head.
But I suspect that will mean the termination of the current arena rent contract & SISU will get what they wanted all along.

No point sending the bailiffs in because all the assets are charged to ARVO so cannot be removed ....... which is part of the purpose of the ARVO charge which was taken out just before CCFC stopped paying the rent

Shouldn't that be the council have not made anything by being part owners of ACL.

The council have made £21m from the lease of the stadium to ACL.
The council made £40m by selling the land to tesco, going back on a deal to split the profits with the club.
Plus all the business rates they are getting from the businesses on the whole site.

The council set the annual rent to ACL at £1.9m a year for the whole stadium, hotel, casino, catering, car parks, exhibition hall, naming rights etc.
ACL then set CCFC rent at £1.2m for 23 days a year plus a shop and a few offices.

We were talking about this in the pub the other night, clearly pub talk doesnt consist of precise figures but the conversation surrounded:

apparently 40 thousand people paid £30 for tickets: £1.2m (not taking into account the corporate gold / silver thingys which were more)
All drinks were £4.50, so assuming 50% of the people bought 1 drink: £90000 (and we all know that you dont buy just one drink and people do buy food)

As a possible undervalued estimate youre still looking at more than our rent for the year in just one night. Obviously there are overheads etc but its still a sizable sum for one night. Im sure somebody on here will have a better insight

Only one reason CCFC didnt get a split of the income - they couldnt afford to do the project, had no money. They had incurred costs on the project yes but they didn't pay them because they couldn't. These "facts" people spout about how CCFC had spent millions to get the stadium going are myth - they incurred the debt yes but couldnt pay for it and deals had to worked to get CCFC out of a mess they had created. The price for that was to lose control of the stadium - no ones fault other than CCFC

My point being that i the council set the rent at £1.9m to rent everything all year and get all the income streams but they still think £1.2m for 23 days is acceptable.

but it isnt a rent for 23 days.....they rent it for the year...... they have first call on it ...... and it isnt just the club shop and a few offices they get to use the other suites as well. like it or not that costs...... they could use it more for no more rental cost but they don't.

dreamland i know but say CCFC successful ....... win the FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup ...... play 15 games more on it the price is still the same......... or say CCFC in premiership with huge increase in income the price is still the same. Would rent even be an issue ? No of course not

Too much damn focus on the rent ........ yes in present circumstances it is too high for Division 1 ....... but thats because successive owners have failed to bring any success to this team, failed to secure its finances and future...... have taken us down and down

If you speak to their own commercial department at CCFC you will find they value an hours use of the pitch at £5000 - thats just the pitch. Do the maths and see what that makes the rent.

What the rent to ACL may have been 6 years ago just isnt relevant. The rent if set now would most likely be more than that because of the increase in reputation, facilities, business and usage. That ACL pay one amount and charge another isnt relevant .... try buying a coke on tap in a pub and trying to pay what it cost the landlord. ACL is a business that has to ensure it is profitable - and in doing so provides a iconic facility for the people of Coventry who were the ones who bailed the club out and are being asked to do so again

This is not a pop at you crowsnest (sorry if i am coming over a bit harsh) but i am tired of so many fans thinking this city owes the football club something, tired of them thinking that the club should expect what amounts to charity from the likes of the council. They struck a commercial deal rightly or wrongly, and you have to assume they did their sums on it, but because they failed on the pitch and as a business everyone else has to share in the cost. The club has to sort its self out from top to bottom before it gets any real sympathy off me

So there were 14 flatbed artics and 8 40ft lowboy trailers, 12 crew/band buses, catering vans, forklifts etc. The crew numbered perhaps 100+. There were 40,000 wristbands, pyro etc. The pitch was covered. There was a stage and lighting rigs and of course a sound system. Then there was a band; a promoter, a ticket agency before you even get to any money going to ACL. So when you sit in the pub counting up the income it might be worth thinking that there might also have been a few overheads.

Personally I hope the council make the club pay ever penny, it's a legal agreement and it should stand until re-negotiated legitimately.

Unfortunately, SISU are hard-nosed bastards - the council should take them to court and take them to the cleaners, get a CCJ on their records.
