He had a massive influence on that play off game though.
Without him we would be languishing still in league 2.
Admittedly he’s not the quickest, or the most mobile, and his strike rate in league football is about 1 in 5, but he’s still the second best striker we currently have, and we just won the fucking league!!!

Or if we’d signed a number 9 who didn’t score a goal in his first 1,300 minutes of league football we’d have not needed the play offs

We wouldn’t have won the F A Cup without Houchen but he was a poor player

Houchen was a poor striker, but goes down in history as a legend, do you regret us signing him because he was poor? Or does his contribution to the 1987 cup campaign make him good value?
It’s exactly the same with Biamou!

'the only important part was the play off game' ? He improved as the season went on and then fired us to Wembley . He's been dangerous on almost every appearance this season. I understand if he leaves but to say he'd waste a squad place is doing the guy a disservice and potentially over estimating our budget.

He’s scored 4 goals in league 1 in his career and has I think 2 assists. In league 2 it’s 7 if you include the play offs and 3 assists - the notion Peterborough would even look at him is laughable

The issue for me is, that he’s getting on now, and he’s never going to be challenging for a start (unless we get loads of injuries) and he’s never played at championship level, (which suggests he’s not good enough, or he would have by now) so do we sell him to someone who gives him game time, and invest the money on another, younger striker? There must be a young, hungry centre forward who would love to have a chance in the second tier, and could challenge Godden for his shirt. Maybe look at non league for another Vardy, or have a look abroad.

The best value was when we then sold him

It’s also idiotic to even suggest we’d get any fee for Biamou other than a notional one - why would anyone pay a fee for him of six figures? It’s senseless

What we get for him is irrelevant, the wage that we save, will free up a squad place.
And apart from you, I’m sure the rest of us would thank him for his contribution.

It’s also worth mentioning that his attitude and application have been first class, which is refreshing in this day and age.

he was signed from non league, he wil be on buttons compared to anyone we want to get in to compete in a championship squad

He also got one assist and a flying scissor kick goal against them. Maybe that comes into their mind

I know you hate the old ‘minutes per goal’ but saying Biamou got 4 this season, he only played 651 minutes. That’s a reasonable return.

I like him and would love to see him being given a go at championship level. He’s pretty much adapted to every level he’s played at. Gives the impression that he’s worked hard to get where he is. The old romantic in me thinks he should be given a go.

Unless we sign Toney, in which case Max can ‘do one’.

I do think the Championship will be a step too far, though. Think we keep one of him and Baka as well as getting a new striker in. Because of his age, you’d expect he’ll be the one moved on.

I think some people are forgetting that Biamou returned this season from a knee cruciate ligament injury that kept him out for a season.
If you consider the time it usually takes players returning from such a serious injury to be fully match fit, then Biamou has done well.
Additionally, he was used mainly as a substitute for a large number of games, so the ratio of goals per game is not a true reflection.
Finally, the Championship might be a step too far for him, but the derogatory statements from some on here towards him and not warranted.

There was plenty of games this season, for example Southend away where although we looked comfortable, but Godden would be incredibly quiet and not involved and then Max and Ohare would come on and suddenly we looked like scoring. O'hare was class but Max looked like scoring, he looks like he would break a neck to score for us whenever he is on the pitch, can't ask for much else. Bolton at home late winner, didn't want it to fall to anyone else.
I think it says everything about him that he wanted to stay, play and score in evey game in the u23s and fight and force his way into contention. Incredible attitude.

I don't think even Max would expect to be a starter in the championship, we need to sign another striker too, but Max and Baka on the bench, 1-0 down, 20 minutes to go....I'm choosing Max.

If you look at his goals total he has also scored another 9 in various cup competitions. So that's 20 in total in limited game time. Maybe not a world beater, but when fit there is something there imo. The Championship may well find him out, but for the wages he is likely on and needing to balance the books, I wouldn't be ousting him from the squad in a hurry.

Like others have said, He's adjusted to the step up every time so far, Why not give him another chance to prove himself next season? He's not shown anything to say he can't do it so far.
The biggest step up he made was when he joined. He went from a couple of hours training a week to being a full time pro. That would have taken a lot more getting used to than a step up in standard.

He scored the winner against Bolton, what should have been the winner against Posh, and the equalizer against Ipswich last season in L1. So that's four points right there. I'm not saying he was Player of the Season, but we don't need to erase his contribution, even if it was a modest one.

Having done that after a massive performance in most City fans' favourite game of recent memory, and subsequently coming back from doing his ACL, it should be obvious why people like the guy (and they didn't always). Football's about more than just shots-on-target ratios and xG.

If Max stays it would be as an impact sub to be a battering ram towards the end of games. Even if he started it'd probably be to tire the defence out for an hour or so to be replaced.

I certainly think he's earned the right to have a go at the Championship, but if an offer comes in that would give him the opportunity to be first choice he should be given the choice to move as well.

He can produce the spectacular bit of a maverick player our max is he's capable of scoring a few goals in the championship but would imagine it would be from off the bench and maybe he wants to play so might be a reason that he's off he's probably at his peak now hasn't got many years of football left
