Interestingly, a lot of Burnley fans are voicing concern about how their club will be hit regarding sponsors, black players not wanting to go there, and the town's economy being hit further through people not wanting to invest there as a result of that message.

This is difficult, isn't it. It wasn't necessary. Its insensitive.
It could well mean black lives don't matter to some, though it could mean white lives are being ignored.
If it had read white lives matter too, it still would have been inappropriate but it would have signalled something slightly different.
In that part of the world Burnley / Blackburn, there is real racial tension, so it's clear to me what it meant.
