At least better than last season, we are going to lose more players and get even less in. We still can always rely on our Sunday morning league players to help out

I've hardly seen Jeffers pay but against Saints he looked like a little boy playing in a man's game but fear not he has had made a big impact when playing in the lower leagues

Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
2008– Coventry City 6 (0)
2010–2011 → Cheltenham Town (loan) 22 (1)
2011 → Cambridge United (loan) 2 (0)

The academy has a poor record recently od producing good strikers Donovan Simmonds Ashley Cain the last decent one being Craig Reid

With that record he is the ideal replacement for ROD.

There's loads of strikers out of contract I wouldn't mind getting jamie cureton probably getting on a bit but no's where the goal is

There is one striker that is getting on a bit and out of contract but could do a job for us.

Drogba

At least it shows you can get quality players for free. Don't mean we will, but hope is all we have left.

If we signed drogba it would only be a ploy to sell again in August for a fee so nasty old sisu can make a few pence before they shut us down.

I think as things currently stand we should start with Sheff & McDonald up front. Sheff admits it is his favourties position and McDonald hopefully will have a good season at this level. I think there is definitely goals in that fron pairing in league 1.

Let's face it we do not play a direct style of footy currently under Thorn so do not necessarily need a big lump up top.......we do need to strengthen our attack and midfield though. Just hope Bell & Baker have good seasons they can be creative and could make lots of goals for Sheff & McDonald.

Bit harsh on Jeffers, he did only turn 20 in April. He was only 18 when he went on loan to Cheltenham and Cambridge and last season wasn't helped by the 5 man sub rule, as I'm sure he'd have had a few more appearances this season. Very difficult to judge him against Southampton as our side was virtual the academy playing against the automatic promotion team.

Nimely is a year older than Jeffers and were only sent out on loan for the first time last season, which is the equivalent of next season for Jeffers. He may not make it, and probably won't but he is a lot younger than people realise.

Donovan Simmonds wasn't from the academy and seriously what has Craig Reid done since he left to say he was decent?

He was good on Football Manager around 6 years ago so maybe that's what you're referring to?! ;)

MacDonald will score goals at this level....but he needs a foil up front.

Platt would have given him that foil at this level, so his departure is an unexpected blow for AT.

Cody is small and fast so could be better beating players than trying to get onto balls knocked down by Platt

Edit: platt would have given him that foil every other game as he can't play 3 in a week......

I never thought Platts knock downs where anywhere near for cody to run on to.
Also with his very poor goal return, I think it's best Cody has a new striking partner next season so we arn't just relying on his goals next season.

jeffers will do fine imo next season still young i see him getting 8-10 goals next season if he plays enough, and cody will be very good in league 1 imo

The assumption is that Jeffers will do ok based on what ?. Most academy players don't make it we have had a lot of our players thrust into the first team far too early and done ok. But to talk Jeffers as being our forward for next year and being able to deliver is just fantasy. The level he has played at is a league lower and non-league with zero impact but once he puts on the sky blue shirt he will deliver. Just be realistic, he has shown nothing to indicate he can cut it at this level and we must be realistic and assume he can't.

Why are we still discussing Jeffers FFS....everyone seems to be ignoring that Sheff's favourite position is striker......therefore with our current style of play McSheff and McDonald up front as first choice strike pariing.......simples!
