Just for arguments sake (I know very little on the subject), but would it be possible to create an alternative trust committee? Kind of a ‘SBT Trust’, a lot of you on here are extremely knowledgeable, have contacts within the club and so much passion for the success of CCFC. We’re already hugely recognised within the CCFC fan community for our efforts in the Season Ticket Fundraiser and Pete and Mark’s meeting with Joy.
Just an idea to possibly think about going forwards? Clearly our fans and the club itself have lost all faith with the Trust due to their antics and lack of commitment. Surely if the club and fans see a united group of passionate, knowledgeable and resourceful members coming together in a ‘new trust’ situation, there’d be a lot of support and input power within a short amount of time. Again, I’m not even sure this is possible but it’s crossed my mind a few times. If a football player got old, unreliable, unfit and lacked commitment, you’d sign a replacement player. Could this sort of idea be put into practice?

I understand your point but there is already a vehicle in place that just needs resetting and a new direction.
One of the issues you have on this forum is that the trust is just no longer representative of those on here and doesn’t reflect the mood of the posters on here. The Trust needs new blood and new thinking. How about putting yourself forward?

No idea. When I asked the FSA they said he was on there as an independent. Email The FSA and ask.

It's just strange that they posted an article in October saying he was from the trust.

One of the other big problems the trust have is that they've alienated themselves from the club over time. It's a huge job to be able to repair the reputation of the trust both with fans and with the club.

It’s not a Trust website. As I said email them if you feel that strongly about it. FWIW Michael Brunskill was the guy who I asked during a phone call.

You need to let it go Nick. CJ has answered the question multiple times now. Other than on a third party website there's no evidence of any further link between Roger Ellis and the trust. I assume Roger is on the FSA committee/board for a fixed term and is allowed to remain as he was on the trust board at the time of election. Worth bringing it to the attention of the FSA though.

But if new people joined the board the issue of the involvement of the previous individuals (myself included) is not relevant is it? It’s the same as saying Russell Slade is still involved with Coventry City.

I'm not sure to be honest CJ. I think from comments made to us they'd probably want to see a sustained change in direction over time and probably large turnover of personnel. Obviously nothing is impossible.
They felt the Trust were constantly pulling in the opposite direction to all other fan groups. Unfortunately, in yourself, one who they do not see as part of the problem is leaving. Will have to see who remains to know whether there is hope of the relationship with the club being fixed.

It is also in the Club’s interest to have a positive working relationship with a relevant Supporter’s Trust. After all both would have the same objectives and aspirations of having a successful Club in the Community. The Trust just need to get the respect back from the Club and the fans. If this means a complete overhaul and re-modelling, including new and improved identity, then this should be done. I’m sure there are a lot of keen, enthusiastic supporters out there that would have the necessary competencies to fulfill these roles in the Trust, people who would take on a role like this for the right reason and not for self-interest.

To be fair, CJ also said he didn't know who Roger Ellis was and told me categorically that another board member had nothing to do with shady Twitter accounts.
I mean if somebody is on the board of a fans governance group based on being on the board of the sky blue trust it's a fair link.
It's probably right that I'm cynical.

But there is the issue of perception. Even if everything is changed with a brand and the original people are no longer involved, the public perception of that brand will remain for a long time, especially if it's a negative perception.

A powerful trust comes from supporters willing to put their heads above the parapet to be shot at and not those who do the shooting. Whatever needs to be done is in the hands of those who are prepared to do it.

Exactly. If the Trust can become relevant again then it's absolutely in the clubs interest to work with them. At the moment there's no real incentive for them to work with them. They see them as just one of a number of supporter groups that take part in the supporters forum and don't see them as anything that should be treated differently from, say, the London Supporters Club or Sky Blues Talk.

You will be a huge loss to the Trust. As I have said many a time. You have taken ALL of the flack in the last couple of years for all of the stuff the trust have/haven't said/done.
I am guessing that your hands have often been tied too.
You have been pretty much the only "face" above the parapet and have always engaged..... including every time I have chewed your ear off about lots of things.
You must have ptetty thick skin - thank you for doing what many of the other members should have done. Hopefully we'll still catch up.
Re Mr Ellis, this is where The Trust doesn't help themselves (although possibly here the blame lies with the FSA) as he is still listed as the Trust rep for the FSA as well as being on their board. Coupled with the fact that the trust have said they are welcoming links with the FSA too.
This is where people may get a little confused.
I have said to you many times, I'm so hopeful that the Trust can change the perception that it has from many many fans, but it must do so much more outwardly and inwardly.
I really hope that this can be done, but I think it is even less possible now without you there.

As heartwarming as that is I wouldn’t take it at face value. The impression I got whenever I came into contact with the club’s hierarchy was that my involvement was a problem. It would be interesting to find out who they did and didn’t have a problem with.

Much appreciated Shep. Don’t get me wrong I’m pleased to be out but as I said above it was best that I did. I felt that I was causing a problem within the fan base and with the relationship with the club. Look forward to seeing you at a match soon.

Sadly CJ you're the only one prepared to actually engage with fellow supporters (ironic for a supporters trust) yet, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, nothing ever changes.
It's clear that others involved don't want change & I can imagine that was incredibly frustrating for you too.
The only way forward I see is to disband & start again with all fresh faces & ideas.

Trusts and supporters clubs are important for different reasons and should be seen very differently. I wouldn’t want a supporters club to question the club on anything. They’re there to hold events to bring the club and fans together. Trusts are there to professionally question when needed and to have something in place should the worse happens. The rest of the time you shouldn’t really hear from them. As well as those you’ve protest groups when things aren’t doing so well. The problem our fan base had for so many years was the lack of a protest group and supporters club that was open to everyone locally. Before L&W and N&B (both have done a great job btw) the only two SCs in Coventry and the surrounding area was the JSBs and Diamond Club which are age specific. Things were also going very badly and there was no real protest group. We had to do all 3 jobs. We held events with club personal such as players, managers and directors. Ran coaches. Held big demonstrations. Plus all the stuff Trusts should be concentrating on. There is only so many keys on a piano and we were playing all of them at the same time when we should’ve just been concentrating on playing the single chord. We were never going to succeed with that mix.

What a Trust should never be, however, is club lapdog. Criticism is entirely appropriate. The method of criticism needs work, however.
