4 years ago I had a child in my class who left school on a Friday as, let's say , John, and came in the following Monday, Katie.
This was a year 5 child. I knew it was coming, as did the headteacher. We dealt with it sympathetically and sensitively. It involved weeks of planning, talking to parents , not only of that particular child but others of classmates who were very concerned. We had to ovecome problems such as toilets, changing for swimming etc, reaction of other pupils, parents, friendship circles etc .
Do don't lecture me about this subject .I know what it involves and the support it needs.
However, even in those following 4- 5 years, the world has gone slightly mad.
