Great signing.

Now we can have him and Dabo in the middle with Courtney Baker-Richardson up front.

Has anyone asked for Burge back yet?

Pask would be more likely to fill that roll, he has played as a defensive midfielder before.
Tongue in cheek, I know, but there are many examples of players converting to a totally different roll and excelling in their new position.
Kevin Phillips started his playing career at right back, and became one of England's best strikers
Ray Kennedy (for those that remember him) started as a striker for Arsenal, and was converted to midfield at Liverpool.
And Dion Dublin in many people's eyes was as good a centre back as he was a striker.
West Brom had a player in the late 60s, Gordon Nisbet who played for them in goal ( I think he may have been in goal in a game we won 4-2 or 3-1. Hunt hat trick in one, Carr hat trick in the other.) They must have decided he wasn't going to make it as a keeper. He converted to a full back and had a good career playing there for Albion and for other clubs making hundreds of appearances.

Well, that's Walsh's replacement sorted. The O'Hare saga seems to be dragging on, so any (sensible) suggestions as to who we could get to replace him?

Normally I think our signings look a bit weird but Hammer looks like a proper footballer. If Man City signed him from someone for 87m he'd look the part. Can't imagine McFazadean like that.

Anyway time for some more beer

FIRST WORDS: Gustavo Hamer
Gutsavo Hamer became the latest addition to join the Sky Blues and he spoke about his delight at finally putting pen-to-paper.

The 23-year-old joins City for an undisclosed fee, subject to EFL clearance, from PEC Zwolle on a three-year-deal and the midfielder revealed his excitement at getting started upon his arrival.

“Finally, everything is done. It felt for ages that the deal was going to happen and now it finally has I am really happy to be here.

“I can’t wait to get started, I haven’t played football for almost two months because I’ve had to train by myself, so I can’t wait to go again and meet my new team mates and see everybody.

“I spoke with Chris Badlan (Head of Recruitment) and he gave me a welcome feeling about Coventry and he was at my house in Zwolle and he told me the plan that they have for me, so it felt right to come over here.”

Hamer joins the Sky Blues at an exciting time, as they prepare for a return to the Championship for the first time since 2012.

The draw of testing himself in England and playing in the Championship is an opportunity that the Brazilian is relishing.

“I think the competition in England is the biggest in the world and it’s a good opportunity for me to see what I can do here.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Coventry fans and the players here and it’s good news about achieving promotion to the Championship and it’s also good news for me.”

Gustavo becomes the first recruit of the 2020/21 season and after completing his medical, he had a chance to speak with manager Mark Robins.

“I spoke with him and we talked about pre-season and when that is going to start because of Covid-19.

“It was a good first talk, we didn’t speak a lot about football, we spoke about family and when my family are going to come over.

“Now I’m here in England, I have to stay here for a while because of the medical tests, so it’s weird to make the move during these times because the plane I was on was empty and the airports are quiet.”

Hamer will have to now wait before he gets his chance to pull on a Sky Blue shirt in front of the supporters, but had this message on what they can expect from him.

“The fans can expect a lot of hard work from me, I’ll do my best and I’ll do my best for the team and the club, so I hope they can expect a lot, but maybe not too many goals because that’s not my game!

“I like to work hard and do everything for the team, so that’s what they can expect from me.”

Especially when the alternative was Lightbourne or Haworth!
Think it was a bid to try & squeeze Huckerby, Moldovan & Dion into the same side?

Back on-topic, woooo-hooo! Definite statement of intent with this signing. Hope we've got a Boateng rather than a Cairo, but reputation seems extremely good & he's young & hungry.

And I still think anyone who thought he was as good a striker as a defender needs their eyes tested :) in fact the fact he moved from defender to striker to make it as a player kinda proves my point rather than yours ;)
No it doesn't prove your point at all.
It's a matter of opinion which role he was best in.

Apart from the fact he was top goal scorer in the premiership one season, played his most successful seasons as a striker and played all his international games as a striker... Other then that of course he was a better defender (I can't believe I'm having a debate over if Dion fucking Dublin was a better striker than defender)

Well my post about signings being snookered by problems getting medicals completed turned out to be bollocks
Sorry about that :(
You need to stick a few red herrings out there though don't you, can't have people cottoning on...

Will reserve judgement until we actually see him play. Shan’t get carried away like the posts I’m seeing on twitter.
