No new players are coming in, so we need a new manager to motivate and organise the ones we have...as Teflon has proved he is unable to do this.

In your opinion ****

Thing is here AT got 2 goalkeepers in and got rid of 1 so surely that was a waste of money there that could have gone on someone else, AT is as much to blame as the rest of the people at the club who have a say in what happens.

He knew the score when he took the job on so he knew what he was up against so I have no sympathy for the man, he is paid to do one thing get results which he didn't do for nearly all of the season.
However towards the end when it was virtually nailed on we were going down the team suddenly start performing, Cody start's playing gets some vital goals, I doubt he was injured for all that time he was out, I just think in my opinion that AT is pig headed and if someone doesn't tow his line and disagrees with him for whatever reason he freezes them out of the squad until he has no choice but to play him.

Just like CLive Platt.

Speak to him and he was baffled by AT's comments that he couldn't play 2 games in a week.

Oh and Eastwood....AT says he's unfit...and then he goes and plays in nearly every Southend game when sent on loan.

Who's telling the porkies???:thinking about:

He won't go anywhere. He loves sisu, sisu love him, the gullible fans also love him. Work that equation out.

It didn't sound like he loves sisu when he was on the verge of saying what he really thought of them that time on cwr.

I agree the words SISU and truth don't go together, but are you saying you knew they were going to get rid of nearly our whole first team last season and not replace them? Until then they had let managers bring at least some of the players in they wanted. This changed after AT became manager. He would not have had a clue what they were about to do. Same as we didn't. We knew they were cost cutting, but not getting rid of as many costs as they could. They were even still talking about keeping King who was on 10k a week, but strangely enough never got around to giving him a contract to sign. They released it into the press he was about to sign again, alerting other clubs he was not under contract. Was this done on purpose? We will never know.

So if he has been lied to, and this is hindering his capability to do the job, why doesn't Teflon show some dignity and personal pride and resign....that would give SISU a very clear message.

Why revert to abuse?

Are you incapable of debating a point?

On to the issue you so eloquently replied to....what have you seen (assuming you do go to the games) in the last 48 games to suggest that Teflon will achieve anything with the players we have?

Try and reply with words bigger than 4 letters, eh? :jerkit:

Oh yeah, after the 45th game of the season, when he had overseen a pitiful performance against a team with nothing to play for?

Why not make his views clear on SISU when he could have saved our season??? :thinking about:

It seems to me that the situation will continue. Sisu and thorn are made for each other. They have their cheap option, he has his ready made excuse. If we are still in this situation 10 games in I m not sure I can cope with watching it

And for what it's worth I don t blame thorn for sticking around. Why quit a job where the employer rewards failure?

God that's desperate. On the vege - so why not go the whole way then! Oh because they offer him a new deal. He said things had to change or he wouldn't sign. Do you think things will change - no. Do you think he'll sign - yes. Face it he loves sisu as any new owner would sack him. Want thorn, LOVE sisu.

I agree, Macca, it is Teflon's choice to stay...however, he should then expect scrutiny and criticism when he fails...as he has done.

There's no scrutiny here LBB and that's an issue. Most fans think he's one of the lads fighting against sisu. Do any of the seriously, really believe a Chinese billionaire if he ever existed would retain Andy "worst win ratio in the clubs history" Thorn as manager! As the answer is no thorn is desperate that sisu stay. They are desperate he stays and most fans hold him to no account. So we are stuck with sisu as we prop up thorn for ever and ever and ever...

Where is the abuse in my post :thinking about: ?

Is this coming from the man who thinks it's intelligent to refer to Thorn as Teflon, or by ending a message to me with :jerkit:

Believe it or not you are not the only person who goes to the games so lose the same old tripe of " (assuming you do go to the games) " as it's very boring and shows you need to grow up.
As it happens I do go to a lot of games, but even if I didn't, then it wouldn't make your opinion more important than mine.

Now the point I was making was that you saying Thorn had proved he is unable to motivate and organise was only your opinion and had not been proved.

If you can't handle that then you shouldn't be posting on here.

Not sure I ll get my head around this situation to be honest. It goes back to my feeling of months ago where I said that if nobody could do any better than this then we may as well not bother having a manager at all. Let them get on with it or put a player in charge. Ok so let's wipe the slate clean. If thorn is staying then he must feel he can achieve something so if he doesn't he should walk, he knows he will have nothing to work with. I d like him to succeed, I backed him when he was chosen but I ve seen nothing

He only says assume to the people who have used the mantra of its the best football we have seen in the last 10 years. This is idiocy as we are relegated he statistically is the worst manager ever and many of those who say it aren't coming back next year! It's a joke .

Thats a very poor argument Duffy, People backing there manager doesn't make them love sisu.

Unless we replace him with an exceptional manager (which we can't afford or attract) it is a risk to replace.

Having said that if we get off to a terrible start after 15 games or something we would have nothing to lose and I would be tempted to promote Carsley to manager as that is the only other viable alternative for manager other than Thorn.

How do you know Thorn would be gone if sisu were not here ?

I think it's very short sighted to think that we were relegated because Thorn was our manager.

Has it really got nothing to do with all the cuts to the playing staff, really ?

I find it hard to see how anyone can judge him with the squad he has had to use this season.
Before we even kicked off this season, the bookies had us down
Why was that ? It can't have been because of Thorn because he had us playing well with some good players in the team the season before.
Maybe it was because the bookies could see that the squad wasn't good enough for the championship.

Did you know that Ice Cream sales in the UK decline as the sale of umbrellas increase? Why is that do you think? One may make an assumption it is to do with the seasonal impact on both products. In other words the two facts are not related.

You put together a list of facts as to why the club is struggling - namely financial adversity. These neither make Thorn a good manager or a bad one. I think he's a bad manager and the surrounding circumstance prop him up.

Do you honestly think a new investor would really keep him as manager. Name me a new owner of any football club with sizeable investment that keeps a manager (unless its Wenger or Ferguson). Get real.

We're not the only team that have stuck with the manager through relegation this season.
Relegated teams
Wolves - caretaker, new manager In
Blackburn - sacked manager
Bolton - kept manager
Doncaster - kept manager
Portsmouth - kept manager
Coventry - kept manager
Wycombe - kept manager
Chesterfield - kept manager
Exeter - kept manager
Rochdale - kept manager
Hereford - sacked manager
Macclesfield - Sacked manager

Other than Nigel Adkins how many managers get the club back having been relegated from the Championship?

I can handle it, laddie...what were the **** representing?

Yes, you are right, though, going to the games is very much tripe and doesn't count...

As for your 'even if I don't go to the games, my opinion is just as important'....if you have that opinion, then I can understand you accepting the 'tripe' served by Teflon...as you don't pay to endure it.....:thinking about:

Jeez...that comment proves that you haven't been to a game under Teflon's tenure if you think that his failure to motivate and organise has '...not been proved...'.

Try this to help you, sonny....

If your next post is 'what does that prove'....I deplore you not to post it as it really will embarrass you and show a total lack of understanding of one of the key fundamentals of the game...WINNING FOOTBALL MATCHES....

I have seen AT do well not last season the season before.

Taking the same bunch of players that were playing crap football under AB and losing left right and centre heading for certain relegation.

IMO opinion he transformed them into a team playing far more exciting and easy on the eye football. From this period I was able to judge him like for like against another manager with the same bunch of players and I think he came out on top..

Then he lost I think it was between 5-7 experienced pros including arguably what were widely considered between 2-4 of the clubs best players depending on whose point of view you take.

These players were replaced with 2 goalkeepers and a striker.

I have then seen the team have a bad season and get relegated. My own view is at the times when the team got results and I felt that was when the more experienced players came back from injury.

The club sold its only goal scorer in January. I am not sure what message that this sent out to the squad as a whole about the club's desire to stay up and what this did for confidence.

Then one of the clubs experiened CB asked to go rather than sit on the bench after returning from injury.
An experienced CB/LB was signed who immeadiatley was injured. At times there were 4,5 possibly youngsters on the pitch. However I dont recall us getting hammered too many times.

I personally like AT as you are aware and I am scared of a better the devil you know scenario.

I find it very hard to truely judge him from last season.

People say how do you know another manager would not have done better? Well that question goes both ways how do you know they would have done better?

Personally I think the best indicator for judging him is by the way he did with the same bunch of players after taking over from AB.

I think the likes of Oneil and Warnock would do better. As they can get players to play above their ability. I dont think there is many managers like that around

I think the squad in a few weeks will be

Murphy
Dunn
Willis
Cameron
Clark
Hussey
Christie
Bell
Baker
Sheff
Deegan
Cody
Jeffers
Ruffles
Daniels

We will IMO lose in total Clingan, Cranie, Keogh, Bigi, McPake, Wood, Platt, Norwood, Nimely

again all experienced Pro's again depending on people's views 4-5 of our best players

I personally will be unable to judge AT again unless we get 7-10 signings with a healthy mixture of league one experience and younger talent on loan who may not be experienced but are from premiership clubs.

Sorry I know that does not take us forward but how can you judge a bloke when the owners keep changing the goalposts.

Ask yourself a question how many managers take a club down and lose as many matches as we have and as some of you point out has the worst record in Cov's history. Yet despite all of this the majority of fans still support him.

There must be a pretty damn good reason for this!

If you place so much stock on what the bookies say...they have us as fourth favourites for this league.

So by your misguided view if Teflon guides us to lower than 4th he has failed...is that what you are saying????

Or is the point where you realise the considerable flaws in your argument.....:D

Were we heading for relegation...?

Were we in the drop zone when Teflon took over?

He was in charge for 10 games...a short term effect is easily achieved...and he won 3 games from 10...and played against several teams with nothing to play for.

A manager is judged on results over a prolonged period...a full season is ample.

What was our run of results over the last 15 games before he took over over for the last ten?
