Omar Bogle could be worth a punt if cheap enough, scored for fun in the lower leagues but has stalled. I guess Champ maybe a step too far for him but Robins likes a project striker

WoW - Blues have released 18 players, that's a chunk off the wage bill!

Couple that lot with yesterday’s Premiership list and you can see why wages will tumble. There’s talk of squads being capped at 20 players too it’s almost a new blue print for the future perhaps not a bad thing.

I agree, Brunt is decent, good at set pieces? At Middlesbrough, Daniel Ayala? At 29, not too old, and a load of experience. Has played 22 games this season, admittedly in abBoro side that has struggled. And Rudy Gestede, 31, very good in the air - so may not suit our style. Hasn’t played much in the last two seasons.

A lot of the bigger name players on there will still be wanting big money I imagine a few are in for a real shock.

Sam Hutchinson is an interesting one. Quite injury prone but experienced at Champ level, a good player and very versatile.

I want young hungry players, not 'old heads' just looking for a pay day. If it is a more experienced player, a Michael Doyle type attitude/mindset please (not that there are many of those around). Hopefully MR/AV will perform their usual wizardry.

Hasn't Keiran Westwood been released by Sheffield Wednesday? That's what a mate who supports them told me but cannot see him on the list?

Jackson Irvine and Bailey Wright would interest me from that lot.

Agree with these two. Would both be solid signings. My friend is a Hull fan and rates Irvine.

Sam Hutchinson would be good for an experienced head. He's 31 next month but is versatile, can play at CB or DM (and RB but we're pretty set there) and experienced at this level.

Struggling to find one of interest out of all of them tbh - I wouldn't mind a couple of the more senior players if they took a huge hit in wages.
However as I can't see that happening not really interested in any of them tbh.

If Chris Brunt, Ayala or Huddlestone were willing to accepy abour a quarter of their current monthly wages I might consider them.

Agreed..don’t think I’d touch any of them apart from O Hare. Would much rather we focus on the current strategy of buying young hungry players.

That being said Dabo was a free from Chelsea and I’d never heard of him so what do I know. Just don’t like the idea of paying a shit tonne on wages for old shit players a la Mowbray era. Nothing I’ve seen so far indicates we’d go down that route thoufh

Bailey Wright, Jackson Irvine and Fernando Forestieri for me. In an ideal world David Stockdale would be a fantastic back up keeper, but I would expect him to receive offers and better wages

Fantastic player, but he was on £25K a week at SW.

Agreed, sadly out of our price range in terms of wages. Only possibility is that he is currently earning £0 a week

A lot of players such as Forrestieri will probably have to take a hit on their salaries as the attitudes of football clubs to finances - certainly in the EFL anyway (for most clubs) - will inevitably change this season.

Hence why I recommended Hutchinson. Might've earned around £20K a week a SW but given his appearance record over the past 3 seasons, he'd do well to even get half of that at another club as in the last few seasons he hasn't shown enough to warrant such a wage - and he'll be looking for a club to take a chance on him.

For the most part, players who are out of contract are going to have to earn their contract rather than be given a free pass by the league's big spenders, and those who have been skimping a contract are going to get a big wake up call when attempting to find another club.

We are going to be paying lowest wages in the league by far, unless Wycombe come up with us.
The likes of Brunt will be on circa 60k pw....around our entire budget last year.
we won't be getting any of the likes of Brunt.

Bailey Wright is a very good defender, but not sure we need another one

No wonder football is in the shit financially if Chris Brunt is paid £3 million a year.

I thought it was interesting that McFadzean said that adding more experience to the squad was the most important thing in the summer window. Right now we have one of the youngest squads in the division, and most of them have never played at this level before. I think we're going to surprise a few on here by spending a fair whack on an experienced player with English experience, and we'll continue to look abroad for the younger players.

For me, Eric Lichaj would be the kind of person to look out for - team captain, international experience, early 30s, can play LB. But we've already signed two right backs this week...

Gestede, in theory, would be an almighty upgrade on Biamou if we're still looking for a target man option, but his wages will be huge and there's major questions about his fitness.

Let our opposition in the Championship waste their money on old names we've all heard of, but with no resale value. I'd much rather we stick with bringing in younger, hungrier players most of us won't yet have heard of. I do however appreciate it doesn't make this kind of thread much fun, where we can all massage our ego's playing at Football Manager.
