Where are you all predicting for us to finish next year? After watching some of the games this afternoon I really would be pleased with 4th from bottom. We are a good side, but better than a large amount of teams in the league? I’m not sure.

Top 2, promoted and sky having a wank over us coz we have been missing from the top flight for 20+ years....PUSB

Seriously thou hope we stay up and try and remain unbeaten in the year 2020.

Last year's promoted teams hold 3 of the bottom 4 places this year. From the year before, Rotherham went straight back down but Wigan and Blackburn are now top half mid-table, having finished bottom half mid-table during their first year back. The stats are against us.

On the other hand, we looked at least as good as Brum during the two games this year and they are presently 20th. If we can finish around 17th-20th we'll have done very well.

Edit: I think it's extremely unlikely we'll compete for promotion. The teams at the top are nearly as good as Premiership sides - implying an awful lot of money being spent attracting the best players. It would take us several years following our plan to build with youth to even come close to them.

Fully believe Birmingham will fall through the trap door within the next few seasons. Can’t play with relegation zones forever.

though Sheffield United went from L1 to the EPL in 2 years with a relatively low net spend and have flourished without spending big.
I appreciate they are a bit of an anomaly but they provide a glimmer of hope.

edit - and did it with several of our ex players!!

survival will be great, even at the expense of clubs who have points deductions due to ffp or administration.

We’re on the up and we more than held our own against a (then) mid-table Brum twice in the cup. No fans at the start of the season could be a good leveler too.

The biggest loss was Walsh but Hamer potentially looks like a decent replacement. Another striker option would be nice. There’s no reason why we can’t finish in the top 10. I wouldn’t go as far as the playoffs but I wouldn’t completely dismiss it either. It happens a lot but it isn’t compulsory that the three promoted teams end up in the bottom three in the Championship.

Budgets smudgets ...Robins’ style of play will stretch a lot of teams in the league.

Have some faith ffs

As others have said, staying up would be an great incentive and certainly realistic for anyone in our position. Mid-table would be a great result after the season that all teams have had. Top half is perhaps beyond this squad at its current level IMO. Another season and if we continue to build as we have, we should be top half the following season. I'd certainly be interested in hearing MR's and DB's views on what their hopes are.

I don’t share the pessimism that seems abundant on here, first we were promoted with the best record in this league for years all be it ten games short. Also it’s a bit different this year, after a decent season last year finishing eighth Robins signed ten players plus three loans, took a while but the system developed, this time the basics of the team is there and Robins is adding wish for scouted players to fit into a tried and trusted way of playing plus some more hopefully and a fully fit again Jodie Jones.
Think we might surprise a few this season.

21st and being safe before the final day would be good enough for me. The unanswered question is how we kick on from here without someone sinking in millions every season.

Think the stadium issue is often used as a red herring here, even in the unlikely event SISU built a stadium and gifted it to the club we'd still have to compete with teams happy to lose millions to try and get in the Prem.

If this time next year we are hearing up for another season in the Championship then brilliant! That is what we all want. But with Robins at the helm the group we have i could definitely believe we could finish 12-16th. The thing I think is we will compete. This team would easily beta our relegation team and probably the teams the year or two before that aswell.

Survival and some good results in the West Midlands derbies... Putting one over the Villa would be amazing...

I’m going for 13th. Think we will surprise a few, including our own fans.

feeling a little invincible at the moment, happy with some of the signings and we have good momentum and feeling optimistic. We can get mid table easily as half this league can go either way. The top 4 will probably be too strong I.e. Norwich, villa, baggies, Fulham etc big teams with big pockets. Need to build on it, keep the core after one season and push on.
