Trust

Surprised but excited
Level of cynicism - baby step
Need planning permission, infrastructure and finance
Sisu are investing in the club

Partnership with university makes it feel different. Also a unique opportunity

Location - space to build on the land is good

One of the sites that’s always been muted with potential

Reporter trying to get him to say negative stuff

Is it a negotiating tactic for talks with wasps?

Yes but still sees this as a long term solution to return. Talked about efl 3 year plan. Possible but he’s looking at the positives.

Short term - personally didn’t go to Northampton or Birmingham club should play In coventry. Fan base 7000. Potential at Ricoh of 18000 in the championship

He thinks there is a deal to be done

He’s spoken well there. Ample opportunity to be negative and the reporter asking questions to push him that way but he didn’t take them

@Sky Blue Pete was that all the Trust or did Gilbert have any words of encouragement to say
The take from Simon Gilbert was heard it before and gave some history that wasn’t bad. Everyone seems to be talking in very balanced way about who is responsible and who need to play ball to play at Ricoh

It’s good really

Other than Maton
A bit of linell

The cwr questioning was aggressive of the trust and trying to get him to say negative stuff and to his credit dave refused

Fair play to him! I haven't heard it personally but it's refreshing that they aren't being dicks!

Sounds positive, will give it a listen for myself later. Hopefully the penny has finally dropped. Even people like Matton must see the response to his tweet yesterday and realise the public support they had is disappearing.

There is not really a lot else he can say given the general optimism around the statement from the club - there still has to be pressure applied to facilitate a return to the City and they have to challenge nonsense that we have seen from the Council on social media and also Wasps as its absurd even if this happens to believe the club can survive outside Coventry for 5 years

Credit where it's due then (y)

Still irks that they're the go to when it's just 5 people representing nobody other than themselves & they're generally totally out of step with the majority of fans.

I don’t believe the club can survive 5 years out of Coventry and there’s no guarantee EFL will allow it or Birmingham City. I try to be positive, there’s the land there’s a good potential partnership with WU but when I look at planning, the logistics, getting too and from having to build roads etc. my optimism dies.

It’s a major project but it’s not impossible in 3-5 years the chief planner was saying there’s a process that’s structured and difficult but not impossible

Nah. It’s about the only place in the city where it might just work. Massive doubts personally about Sisus commitment to the project given their history, but the plan itself is good.

Think it’ll cost more than £30m mind, and it’ll be near impossible to get the capacity right if we’re not planning to invest in the playing side and establish us as mid table Championship at least IMO.
