Pretty sure support for Wasps and the RICOH Arena debacle has cross-party support.

If the Tory (or any other party) councillors had a stance scrutinising the role of CCC and Wasps in our exile, they’d get my vote.

My experiences with councillors (at university) has been very negative so far. The people I came into contact with had a heightened sense of self-importance and looked down on people. Put me off.

Coventry Labour are really at a tipping point at the moment.

The local group (The ones which wouldn't be out of place in the Conservative Party) have lost control of Coventry South, and this will cascade down in that area to the Wards, given time, with new councillors being selected. Also, Coventry North West, which is balancing on 52% - 48% in favour of the Labour Tories is ready to tumble.

The smallest organization of people power with people joining Labour within Coventry will easily tip the balance and get in many new councillors where it is needed, away from this crock of shit we have representing ourselves at the moment.

There is no better time to join Coventry Labour and making your voice heard.

Organization at a ward level could unseat most of these asshats whom call themselves councillors.

It’s almost like a microcosm of a lot of the nonsense at Westminster. Careerists with their own agendas and jumped up levels of self-importance only really interested in looking after themselves. Even when you look at the elder statesmen of both parties in Westminster that have gone recently (Clarke and Skinner to name just two) they have been replaced by jumped up pricks more interested in using their parliamentary office to chat up and perv on young interns. Although I may not agree with his politics, I’d take 1000 Ken Clarke’s over a jumped up knob like Umanna who is only in it to extend his gravy train.

I had an argument yesterday on Twitter with someone who refused to believe that Wasps has hedge fund involvement.

He was clever with this statement, kept it very factual, twat had to delete his tweet earlier this week because it wasn’t and it clearly demonstrated bias against the club and he cannot do that under the 7 principles of public life conduct for these officials.

I wrote to him asking him to report himself to the ethics committee on this and to ensure he removes himself from any decision making involving the club in all future situations. Sent some back some B/S to me about being an ex season ticket holder and didn’t basically answer the question so I’ll write to the committee for him, it will be easier that way.

Where do you think those in Westminster start out? Grease their way up the ladder working as local activists, become a councillor, contest a few unwinnable seats then eventually get one they can. Arseholes in local govt end up becoming the arseholes in national govt, esp in Labour. Tory it's a bit more go to public school/Oxford and then get parachuted in. Or go and get a nice lucrative job for a bit then get parachuted in (but not for all obviously)

Funnily enough, I was a Labour member around this time last year.

We certainly need new blood in our local government.

SISU lost the PR battle a long time ago, the average person believes they are in the wrong (and they have a lot to answer for too). This has allowed Wasps and CCC to act and to say things without any accountability.

A fine example is Cllr. Maton mocking the new stadium announcement. He fully well knows that the CCC wouldn’t entertain a new stadium project in their jurisdiction.

All of their eggs are in the RICOH basket.

Absolutely, that's why it's sheer hypocrisy. He has lauded the sale of the Ricoh to Wasps despite them reneging on many of the conditions that came with it.

Yes, I fully agree.

I've made sure to make a clear distinction between 'some' and not 'all'. There are some hard-working councillors of all flavours in all parties.

Who these councillors are is pretty self-evident. The others though, need a concerted campaign for replacements candidates to be put forward, not just at election time but more importantly, when they put themselves forward for the Labour ticket as the Labour candidate in a safe council seat for the Local Elections.

Labour members need to challenge them in wards by putting up replacement candidates.

Just as a rhetorical thought, does anyone think Maton would still be a councillor if he was not in such a safe Labour council seat?

I was described similarly in an employment tribunal case many many years ago. I’m not sure it’s relevant to other than the case in question. Having said that I have a couple of business friends who were banned from the Ricoh back in the day who harbour very ill will to her and Sisu

It’s clearly not as simple as one side is right and the other side wrong as that’s not how life works. What is insane is that a deal could have been done that benefitted both parties and probably benefitted them significantly
