On this day 1984 - I ordered three pints of milk from our milkman instead of the usual two.

That was the year before.

In this one there were Chelsea fans wearing colours all over the place, gave it loads when they scored. Funny AF when we won, although I did get followed out of the ground by four of them (was with my now wife), which was nice.
It wasn’t. Year before was 3-2 when Dublin got a hat-trick. Think it was 2 years before.

It was in 97:

So if the thread title is correct?
Ah, 2 seasons before, but maybe the previous year. So 2nd half of the 96/97 season. Then we had 2 seasons in a row where Chelsea at home was the first game of the season. This thread was the second one of those. The first one, Frank Sinclair scored and pulled his shorts down to celebrate, which I always thought was one of the stranger celebrations I’d seen!

Was that the gold top debacle?
Yep! Only gold top for me! But I remember the day well. It was a sunny Thursday morning. I'd ran out of milk. I just caught a glimpse of the milkman rumbling along the road towards our house. I dashed out and said "2 pints of gold top please, Ernie!" He said he'd just run out , but he'd supply me with 2 pints of silver top instead. I said "Make it 3 pints, Ernie! I feel like an extra helping of Weetabix!" Ah! The memories! What a great start to that morning!

Better that way.
At least no birds pecking through the lid and knicking the creamy bit anyway .
