As much as I like Ponti, I can’t help but feel unless the club drops back down the divisions we’ve surpassed him and he’s at an age where he needs regular football. I’d tell him he’s free to go if he can find a club.
Agreed, along with Baka, Biamou and Kastaneer.
As you point out, we have now surpassed them.

The issue is, we said the exact same thing this time last last season. It was clearly a mistake sending him on loan to Tranmere - something that at the time raised a lot of eyebrows - and he probably would've been better suited being sent to a League Two or perhaps National League club.

Personally I think the boat has sailed for Ponti at CCFC. But I do think that if he landed at a club at either level mentioned above he'd score goals. So, I certainly think it would be in our interest to send him out on loan to a lower league club (at a more realistic level) in order to potentially capitalise on his value by selling him on if he finds success. Similar to what Rotherham has done with Jerry Yates. It would be good business and we literally have nothing to lose by not doing this.
Ponti wasn't included in the squads for Rangers or Swindon which probably tells its own story

Come on then what would a future stars XI look like right now?

Total guesses just to bring STP out the woodwork to correct me:

Bilson
Thompson Drysdale Williams
Rowe Burroughs Eccles Newton
Bapaga N’Gandu
Bremang

?

Billson or Tyler in goal
McGrath as back up CB
Bartlett or Young might be better suited to CDM than Burroughs, but Burroughs could be competing with Bapaga and N'Gandu.
Evans-Harriott also competing for CAM. Dan Lafferty is still around too but has suffered badly with injuries.
I'd have Ponti ahead of Bremang.

It does feel like his time here may be coming to an end which I think is a shame. Been quite unlucky last two years which has hampered him. Foot injury at Shrews, Tranmere didn't work out then made promising start at Wrexham before season curtailed.

Would like to see him get regular minutes in a L2 loan at the very least regular U23 minutes to put himself forward rather than sold/released.

If we let him go for free it wouldn't be without a large percentage sell-on clause (20-25%) or even a buy-back clause. For what he lacks he has goals in him.

Are the club actually updating about the game or just giving HT/FT?

Saddo like me checking every few mins for an update. Hardly worth giving us '10 mins to ko, team news shortly, announce team, announce kick off' then.............................................

Looks like it’s at a training ground so probably just don’t have the facilities for media with the current situation.
Don’t they just need a mask, clean hands, no temperature, a notepad and pencil and somewhere to stand out of the way?

I get what you mean though, probably just that as opposed to Balotelli getting a few sneaky minutes in his legs ;)

I noticed he doesn't have a twitter bio / mention he plays for us, I'm sure he did previously

Lets hope we win this one. Be a good ice breaker for Mark/Pete's meeting...

- Did you see the good result guys?

- Oh yes... Northampton is a tricky place to win at!

Seems a bit of a strange line up. Essentially a U23 side with a couple of first team who need more minutes?
