ANDY Thorn has missed out on one of his summer targets after the player opted to sign for League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.
The Sky Blues boss is believed to have been tracking attacking Bradford City midfielder David Syers, who was understood to be keen on a move to the Ricoh Arena.
But City have failed to land the 24-yearold as the club's transfer embargo and ongoing uncertainty as to when they can start signing players continues.
“We have got quite a long list of players who we want to target and who we feel will do a job for us in League One and he is one of many,“ confirmed City's development director Steve Waggott.
“It's obviously still very quiet in the market with clubs having not returned for pre season yet but there's going to be loads of movement between now and then.
“We are in discussions with other players to put our marker down on quite an extensive list to be honest.
“We are not going to get them all and with the embargo still there at the moment we are doing whatever we can to keep in the game and keep discussions going.
“Everyone at the club is working really hard to get the embargo lifted ASAP because if we are going to start trading again we've got to get it lifted and from the footballing side of the club that's our top priority to get that done. It will release the blockage and then we can move ahead in a more open and progressive manner.“
leeds-born Syers has signed a two year deal at Rovers * who were also relegated from the Championship last season * after coming to the end of his contract at Valley Parade.
Syers joined Bradford in 2010 after making his name in non-league football as a goal-getting midfielder.
He scored nine times for the Bantams in his first year and twice last season after missing a large chunk of the campaign with injury.
the player said: “I came down and met dean Saunders and ever since then there's been no looking back.
“It's an unbelievable club and dean really sold it to me.
After meeting him it was a case of when can I sign, not if.“
