Why has one guys dumb comment on Twitter got 7 pages on here? šŸ¤Æ

TBF I think this goes to the heart of an long running football debate that encompasses booing at matches at well. Thereā€™s a whole ā€œsupport the teamā€ vs ā€œfree speechā€ argument that weā€™ve had in one form or another on here forever.

Itā€™s whereā€™s the line between fair criticism and actively hurting the chances of your own players doing well.

I also think that one of the great elements of our success over the last few years has been a feeling of togetherness between players and supporters and this kinda interaction between the two sours that. Itā€™s the opposite of the Jack Hickman incident.

The builder would be trying to get back to being fit enough to work again. In Jonesā€™ case he has been paid full whack for years and barely played. It isnā€™t his fault but then again nor would it be for many others

Sorry but the guy's financial status does not mean he is fair game to be told he's going to be "rotting away" very soon. You wouldn't say that to your builder or put it on social media (which is essentially the same thing nowadays), and as far as I'm concerned same goes for Jones' situation. You just wouldn't (or at least I'd like to think you wouldn't) do it. If Jones fails on the pitch then its pretty clear he's not going to make it, thats how it should & will be- on the pitch- and we'll find out soon enough, but why you'd use that language before he's even kicked a competitive ball or had a single chance, its just obnoxious. He was a twat for doing it, yeah all this CET stuff is bonkers but still, thats social media- he posted it, he needs to deal with it now.

Our fans always had a reputation for being fickle & loving a chance to get on someones back & single players out for abuse, it had got much better with the recent successes we've had, and we've seen what a difference it makes when there is a close bond between fans & players- this type of stuff now with other players getting involved, its like going back to the bad old days and we just don't need it.

He also accepted he phrased it poorly and in my view that should be the end of it.

To be fair, I got bored of reading after the first page and skipped to the end so may have missed some of that.

People can say what they like on Twitter. It shouldn't be policed. Players are probably best served ignoring it rather than reacting. Hope he uses it as fuel, and like any true supporter I imagine the guy who posted it would love nothing more than to be proved wrong.

FWIW, looks like he's starting a podcast with the blind lad that goes to games (Jamie?). Wouldn't surprise me if he's said something deliberately controversial to generate a bit of traffic to the podcast.

Hello mate,

yes, youā€™re right I would like to be proved wrong. Second of all I didnā€™t post anything to get views for a podcast. I didnā€™t expect any replies to the tweet. I didnā€™t tag JJ or anyone in it - If I was looking to gain an audience I would of tagged everyone.

In the time it took the telegraph to do that story couldnā€™t they have found out something useful like how long da Costa is out.

ps does andy turner still work for the telegraph?

It was the pusb hashtag...

I think that's why it appeared on my feed...

That and a hundred other supporters and a couple of players reacting to it...

So, you posted something on a social media site hoping nobody read it?! Mate, do yourself a favour, turn off your phone and do something meaningful. All the best.

Yeah, looking for people calling other people cunts and telling them to piss off on the internet is always a sure fire way of spotting a hard case online.

Looking for people who on earth was I looking for??? I was responding to yourself and Grendel smart ass comments towards me as I was getting tired of the alerts coming through. That's all. I don't show off and I'm not looking for attention. So I will end it here.

Good day sir ....PUSB

I'm not on twitter (thankfully it seems!) but this whole episode seems a bit sad from all points of view...

- why some no-mark thinks anyone cares about his views on a footballer that most people across the UK will have never heard of...
- the fact it seems the Telegraph think it's worthy of a story...
- the fact that people actually do seem to care about it...

Still, having seem some of the recent car-crashes on various Leicester and Sunderland forums, it seems we are not alone in being a collection of absolute sad-acts...

For what it's worth, this forum would be absolutely useless as a means to talk about the squad if we removed negative opinions... It's absolutely healthy to discuss players shortcomings and strengths... And players are also free to take a look on this site too

Not every supporter feels the same way about every player... That's football and part of why it creates so much conversation be it controversial or not

It's a wonderful game

Well, you should be using the exposure to promote the podcast now. Good luck with that, will give it a go.

Should ask JJ on your podcast. šŸ¤£

Can you tell me where I said anyone cares what I think? I posted a tweet which Iā€™m allowed to do. Evidently people do care tho hence the backlash on social media and the reason Iā€™m on here. You seem angry at the world, Travs, anything you want to talk about mate?

Haha imagine the numbers on that. Iā€™ve actually met JJ a few times and heā€™s a genuinely nice lad so who knows?
