why does what “we” know have any relevance? Mark Robins obviously thinks he can cut it in the Championship or he wouldn’t have given him a contract to play in the Championship, why do we keep assuming we somehow know more?

All this is pointless yet anyway until the club gets the prognosis, nothing can be decided until then.

I touched on that in a later post.. About Robins

No as people on here seem to believe we owe him something. We don’t. Are you seriously saying if he wasn’t injured again and had a good season he wouldn’t reject a new contract and hawk himself to the highest bidder. Of course he would. It’s the way it is. We’ve gone overboard in helping him and it’s unfortunate but that’s the way it is

I don't think we've gone overboard in helping him to this point. We gave him a new contract because he's a talented player. If we did so again it'd be for the same reason.

With which bit?

I think we have gone overboard as many clubs wouldn’t have offered a deal this year. It’s illogical anyway to offer another one year deal as if he’s a flop we’ve wasted money and a success he’d leave as a free agent and get a better deal.

Do you think our motives in offering him the previous extension were purely altruistic?

They were a gamble and I’d guess a extension of his years contract once bitten and all that

And given that this injury is a new one (other knee), what is the difference now? Apart from he’s a year older. Another gamble maybe? How much do you think he earns? And what would he be worth in the scenario where he makes a full recovery and plays (successfully) for us in the championship?

If we’d got a fit JJ playing this season, and he’d lived up to his potential (big if I realise) he’d be worth many times his salary. Worth the ‘gamble’ in my book. What’s the potential loss — a year’s wages for a junior player (so 50-100k?). Small beans compared to his potential value.

I feel really sorry for him and wish him all the best in his recovery. Hopefully he'll be back fighting fit before the end of the season.

In the meantime, all you fuckers posting negative comments about how his season and career is over should stfu until you hear more about the extent of his injury, the short and long term prognosis, and the success or otherwise of his surgery.

Now is the time to put an arm round the player, not run him down.

The premiums would be too high for clubs to insure all their players
Some top clubs might insure their superstars
Players themselves often have career ending injury policies though
better - you seem to be close to the club . What is the mood around this - has it affected the other players? - What about the player who made the tackle? is Jodi around the club or been given leave?

I suppose the mood was one of shock after the diagnosis as the injury was thought to be minor until the scan
The lad is been given a bit of time off as I understand it but don't know all the details
He'll probably be seeing the medical team though
Not sure how how the other player feels. It wasn't deliberate from what I hear, just clumsy
The medics are working with the player and the surgeon to get the operation done as soon as the inflammation goes down
It should happen pretty quickly so Jodi can start his rehab as soon as possible
