The football season is paused? Cases are rising. Pillar 1 testing is going up which is ominous. If we carry on as we are i doubt we'll get past the end of this month.
Agreed, not looking good at all but in no way unexpected.....sadly.

tbf there wasn't much choice...
Corrupt soab, or inept soab...
Of course there was a choice ‘as starker choice has there’s been in mainstream politics for years as it happens.
The fact most people can no longer think for themselves and are happy to be told what to think/believe by the MSM/ free press does not mean there wasn’t a choice.

What the OP says is correct , at this rate teams will be infected with C19 . It is just a matter of two weeks before the season is halted on the fact that teams cannot put out competitive teams , we are back to Feb

If there is going to be a serious second spike it will be November to March. Sadly, I don't see stadiums being occupied between these months. Football will continue as life has to go on and given football is an outdoor job the message stopping would send to wider society would be detrimental on many levels.

Are teams here subject to greater restrictions than the rest of the population? Seem to recall that was the situation in Scotland as a couple of players broke the rules and Sturgeon treated to stop all games.

If they are thats a huge number of people you're relying on doing what they're told in terms of not socialising. Not sure I'd be confident in that happening.

Guess it will come down to how large any outbreak is. Couple of players here and there can be treated like any other illness or injury. Bigger numbers of players and you have issues. Not sure there's a lot of room in the calendar for multiple games to be postponed unless they are prepared to extend the season again.

I stand by it. So many dubious contracts given out during covid.

They had a heads up looking at how the Tories and their disaster capitalist mates stand to gain from Brexit. That should have told them they can't be trusted but
They still voted them in so they need to own it.

What are we doing differently regarding this outbreak than anywhere else

There’ll never be enough testing, I fear. Across the globe, can’t constantly keep on top of it.

They don’t have to - it’s damage limitation until there’s a vaccine.

People saying no one has any idea what they are doing and making it up as they go along...of course they fucking don’t it’s a global pandemic and we’ve never experienced anything like it. 😂

As stated, giving out contracts to their mates. Although to be honest that could be happening elsewhere but I don't pay taxes elsewhere.

Hence the testing regime and world class track and trace we were promised haven't materialised.

Very small limitation too. Vaccine can’t come soon enough.

So why go on tv lying every day when they were doing daily briefings?
Why promise a world class track and trace system to be ready by the first June which still hasn't materialised?

Why turn down a proven off the shelf track and trace system in order to award a contract to your mate who was responsible for the biggest data breach in IK history?

We've decided to ignore our entire public health infrastructure to award big contracts to Serco and Deloitte. I'm not sure if it is just incompetence or deliberate. If the latter it is a heist in plain sight.

I’m talking about our lockdown strategy regarding increasing cases

Firstly, relax. I'm not the enemy I'm just trying to understand your frustrations.

What's the proven track and trace system they turned down?

And all this talk of giving contracts to "their mates"...Deloitte are the biggest accounting and professional services company in the world it's hardly their mates dodgy little company is it. They needed to act quick.

But masks have been introduced to stop the spread guys.
To ‘help prevent the spread’, not ‘stop it’. What is the issue with masks anyway? I just don’t get why people are making a big deal of wearing something that might help save lives. Seatbelts?

Nobody ever has even once said that wearing a mask makes you immune, it’s all about reducing the rate of infection so that it doesn’t infect more than one other person for each person infected. If 1 person infects 2 others, we’ve got massive problems. If 1 person wears a mask and infects 0.5 people, we don’t have such a problem. Not rocket science.

So why can I sit in a bar with 20 people in a room the size of my garden shed maskless but not in an empty shop

I didn't mention Deloitte.
The track and trace available was either Apple or Google but they put to do Harding in charge instead.

Now this moonshot bollocks has been awarded to a company Johnson's brother joined the board of in June.

None of these contracts have delivered. It's an absolute racket or as FP quite aptly described it 'a heist in plain sight'.

I think the unfit for purpose PPE they bought of the Turkish T shirt salesman was a genuine fuck up but if someone did trouser some public money from it I apologise for not acknowledging their nefarious ploy!

You know what, don't answer this is a footy thread. For the record I don't think they'll do lockdown as we knew it and footy won't stop. Been going on since June so will continue. Chelsea have paid 200 mill on players so far, they'd be livid

Was listening to paul Ross on talk radio yesterday morning. Had a guy on from Sweden who was saying they have literally done nothing different apart a bit of social distancing in first few weeks. He was Saying it was hardly on the news, bizarre

masks have been worn for years in other countries. How did we suddenly find the evidence it helps in last few months, as at the start of the lockdown, it’s was all about the lack of evidence

No way they'll be a lockdown like the April and I don't think the football will stop either but I can definitely see the fans return to the stadiums getting delayed.

Two of my passions, football and music, both absolutely fucked by all this. Live music in particular trouble

Because we are being governed by a bunch of wankers who don’t give a shit about you or me, but they do give a shit about the major landlords who own all of the bars, shops and restaurants that you are talking about.

There isn’t a single thing that will prevent covid, but there are many small measures, that added together might just get the infection rate down to a number that means the pandemic dies out. It’s all a balance, but again — what’s the objection to wearing a mask if it might help? Let’s ignore the evidence that says it actually does help and assume it just ‘might’ help. What’s the issue?

Because since the pandemic started there have been lots of opportunities to do actual science to see if they work. The science says they are effective (but not a guarantee).

I haven’t researched this article, literally the first hit on google, but your starter for ten...

You think government policy is dictated by how much Chelsea have spent in the transfer window?

we have flu every year, why has there not been an opportunity to research what Asia have been doing for years before this virus ? . Imagine the lives we could have saved if this is right and we haven’t been doing this every winter

Don't think I've said that have I. I've said Chelsea will be livid. Chill out man jeez it's Friday night, footy starts tomorrow.
Apologies, probably a bit of pre match tension! Chelsea being livid won’t stop covid though I do get your point, lots of money riding on a season being played out somehow. Agree that there will be some kind of season, we’ll have to wait and see what that is I guess.

Good point. Why don’t we wear them all the time? (Although I imagine we need to be exposed to some pathogens to keep our immune systems functional).

I’ll post it again because it addresses your question:
