🤦🏻‍♂️ If Giles gets injured or sent off would it be a waste of a loan then ? Mason won’t be here past this transfer window.

It’s normal on such arrangements that Norwich would cover a high percentage of wages as long as he plays so he will be a very expensive squad player

Strange one from Norwich, have they already decided he's not for them. Why would you loan a player back to a rival. I hope we haven't had to guarantee game time for this.

Not sure how I feel about this. Giles has been great so far. Would rather the budget have been used on an attacking midfielder.
Have to assume Mason is off.
I take it back - Giles will break down if he plays all 46+ games, plus McCallum is better than Mason, and it gives an option of playing Giles further forward. I'm fine with it. We still have one loan spot left.

Maybe they feel he'll develop faster here?

So Norwich have spent a few mill on a player to hand him back to us for 1.5 seasons? Not complaining but already looks a waste of money on their part

Good signing if a bit odd on Norwich’s part. Would be a shame if Giles doesn’t keep his place for now on merit though. Great choices at LWB for the season.

I can only presume they've secured a loan signing as they only have one left back at the club - if they don't bring in anyone in it doesn't look brilliant for him

Robins has just popped this in Mason's locker... View attachment 17011
Thinking about it:

It’s good for squad depth and keeps Giles on his toes

He knows the way we play and the staff

Norwich have given us a load of cash and then given the player back to us for a year and a half!

Robins is a genius 😂
exactly this...Mason was poor mid week no shock ronins has made this move he’s prob seen Enough from mason

Well this is great for depth but Giles has been outstanding on the left. Giles has the most crosses in the Championship to date. I can only think Giles will be pushed up on the left in place of Allen.

Seems odd. Giles been good thus far, although thought he struggled against Oyasi-Samuel on Friday (albeit he’s being linked with a PL move).
Hard to know what Robins is thinking

Agree in both games so far we have been most exposed down the left. Also I think this one signing will allow Mark Robins to replace 2 players. Mason and maybe covet for the injuries to Jobello/Jones as Giles gives us an option at left wing.

We still need Walsh or similar and an attacking midfielder to put pressure on or better Allen.

Walsh is not coming mate people need to get over it.

Careful. All the forum mongs might attack you for suggesting that!

Giles alongside O’Hare with Dabo and Hamer sitting in behind.

I am so confused by this theory, so you want to play a lwb as a cam instead of a player who excels in the cam role.... Allen doesn't do the spectacular but we would be a much poorer team without him in it, it's no coincidence that our great form last season coincided with his return to the team

It makes no sense to start playing players out of position that’s why putting a left back into a CAM position is on the level of putting Dabo at CDM
