i am sure he left Millwall in May, just a delay on the confirmation, Thorn and Shaw did play for Palace together!
One of the worst players to ever play for us. The mind boggles that people actually rated this clown, but it does give a great indication as to why the club has fallen so far if this is the standard of player the fans are willing to not only accept, but to lord over them too. Yeovil Vs CCFC, you get what you deserve.

Disagree, I remember watching plenty of games where Shaw was either Man of the match or played very well. These were all during the championship campaigns mind.

Very, very harsh mate, he wasn't a bad player but above all else he was loyal, he loved the club and that's what we're lacking these days. Did he not play for free for a bit when we first got in the shit financially ? I'd prefer to have 11 Richard Shaws playing for Coventry than one turn coat Marlon King

Outrageous, this guy was a top level defender, not a player who would step out of the back with the ball or look 'classy' but a pure defender who served our club amazingly.
Every team needs a Richard Shaw
He was awful. He wouldn't win an Ariel ball if he was being challenged, he would panic if he had the ball at his feet. Most passes were sideways or backwards, and the amount of times he would give the ball away needlessly, only to recover with a last ditch challenge (which is why I think some rated him) is incalculable.
I wonder how long before I hear the usual "he was a great man marker" "he was loyal" sheeplike replies parrotted out?

I think I'll take Alex Ferguson's opinion above that of most others, and his opinion of Richard Shaw after this event was to ask Cantona why he was letting players like Shaw bother him? He is a rubbish player who shouldn't be on the same pitch as Eric. But hey, what does Ferguson know in comparison to the Richard Shaw fans out there?

Ferguson would say that because Cantona was an excellent footballer. 'Players like Shaw' would cover 99% of the league.
I thought Shaw was alright. Not shite but not our white knight. Of course if more than one person dares to think differently to me on this or anything it's a sheep mentality.

I know that you love bring the ferguson quote up, it was in the context of criticising his team and was not as you suggest.
I knew that a post about shaw would bring you out again. I say the same to you as I did last time. Shaw was first choice as a defender for around 9 managers during his time here and at palace. Now who knows more you or those managers?

I doubt Shaw is coming to CCFC.
SISU are cutting non playing staff and the only reason Carsley is in the first team coaching role is as a replacement for Harrison. I doubt we will have an official assistant manager this season.
We has a part time fitness coach last season. Which says it all...

No, it's every mans right to disagree, the sheeplike mentality comes in when they trot out the myth that he was a good man to man marker, I hope that clears it up?
And in those 9 years and various managers, what became of the managers and the clubs involved? I'm almost certain the manager was sacked at Palace and Palace were relegated. At CCFC we were eventually relegated, and of the managers I can recall off the top of my head the following were sacked, Big Con, Strachan, Nilsson, Black, Reid, Adams, there may be more??
As for who knows more, myself or these sacked managers, it could be argued that these sacked managers, (I'd argue if they'd gotten a decent centre half whi could actually defend they may not have been sacked) however, who knows more, these sacked managers or Alex Ferguson?? It's a toughie so take your time.

Yes, he won the player of the year award at the successful English footballing giants of Crystal Palace, Coventry City and Millwall, wow, what a player. Remind me again who came 2nd to him when he won it here? Oh yes Roland Nilsson, one of the finest players to ever wear the Sky Blue, and if this alone doesn't tell you why the club is now where it deserves to be I don't know what does, because if you are honestly telling me the likes of Shaw was a better player than the immense Nilsson I'll stand fuckin'.
