I wonder if the Championship is suited to Kasteener? His power and aggression is what we need going forward. As long as he doesn’t get sent off. Maybe this seasons wild card pick.

lol

Someone like bright in the ten role who can just keep the ball for a while by himself for a while to let team get up the pitch is what we need. Ohare is great but he’s a million miles an hour and doesn’t give players time to support

Its funny, I thought Shipley was poor last night, but noticed he was on the pitch. Allen was anonymous. Neither are good enough imo, im really hoping Robins can get some added quality in on loan, like a mason mount when he went to Derby.

Totally agree with this. Shipley tried hard but nothing came off. I thought Allen did nothing when he came on and actually hid at times.

Shipley just looked lost last night, bottled challenges by not closing down quick enough, Allen just ran about a lot but nothing of note came from it, Sheaf needs too much time on the ball but looked slightly better when Hamer was off

Shipley had mistakes in him in L1 but at Champ level he isn’t at the races unfortunately. We all want him to do well as a Cov kid but he just isn’t good enough. We just have to accept that.

Going forward, I do believe that MR will switch to two strikers. The two AM options, at this point, probably won’t provide enough goals. Also, we need to find a way to be more direct when better teams try to press us high up the league. Gooden needs support.

I think you may be correct. If we cannot play out from the back effectively, due to losing the ball too often in dangerous areas, then having an extra body up front to support Godden also allows the likes of O'Hare to snaffle up any loose ball. This is more likely to happen due to how alert O'hare is and he is constantly moving and being proactive (unlike one or two others last night - where the difference in O'Hare's movement/aggression was self evident)

Well Robins needs to look at Bapaga, Hilsner and Jobello as options to give us a bit more in attack. We just aren’t able to carry the ball and drive to the opposition box.

Two up top could well be an answer. Fadz and Hamer (when he’s on the pitch) have decent long range passing and so we can go a bit more direct. Last couple of games suggest our passing game is easily nullified at this level. But clearly God is isolated on his own.

Walker is a lot more athletic than Godden. It’s only a matter of time before he starts.

I'm not sure that it was even bottling it, but it appears that he is almost 'shadowing' a player, whereas O'Hare is always looking to get a foot in to nick the ball. I won't judge him just on last night's game, but at this level he definitely needs to show more intent to attack the ball, and disrupt his opponent by putting more physical pressure on him - not just the odd shirt pull and giving silly free kicks away.

We need options, and my view is that if the 3-4-2-1 shape is to survive in its current form, an AM needs to score more goals (be it Hilssner, Jobello, Allen or Shipley, or Tyler Walker needs to leads the line. I don't think Gooden should be dropped (at all) to accommodate one of those AMs so that, to me, leaves 3-4-1-2 as the next viable alternative.

I have faith in MR, and as long as we stay up, I'm not too bothered where we finish. We're a young, developing side with next to zero Championship experience.

I think our downfall this season will be a lack of some experienced championship players who are just clever at the midfield battle and mind games. How we could do with a Doyler character.

This was basically what McFadzean was saying in preseason - that as a priority, the team needed some old heads to get the team through tough patches (He would say that, I suppose). I was amazed that Robins didn't even try to get in some extra experience at this level.

Personally think we need more tactical flexibility and we'll see the formation change sooner rather than later.

If we're pinning our hopes on Jobello and Hilssner (neither of whom I expect to play meaningful minutes this year) then we're totally fucked.

If I agreed with the last part any more, I’d burst.

I think we need a midfielder that knows the league and can put his foot on the ball and slow things down. Huddleston & King both available for free but wages would be an issue.

There will be a lot of footballers without a club this season. I wonder if some might play for a cut price wage.

We have a serious lack of quality in the midfield, there is no real pace at all. Marcus Madison was available on a free but comes with baggage, pisses all over Allen & Shipley in the AM role. IMO We've wasted money extending the contracts of certain players we should have allowed to move on.
No he doesn't, he hasn't got a club for a reason

I was gutted yesterday as I’ll always be when we lose but after reflecting feel way better about it today.
They were obviously better but they’re going to be aren’t they with the money they had. Some teams have been absolutely tanked in this league already (derby) but we lost 3-1 to basically a premier league team.

Our strategy is to buy younger players with loads of potential who will develop into good players for the level. None of the players are finished articles yet who are going to look super capable at this level, and I’m sure they will grow huge amounts over the season. We’ll get there!

I wonder if the Norwich fans are in meltdown too.

I had a look on their forum and they are in complete meltdown. They want Delia and the board replaced, want a new manager, don’t want Pukki on penalties anymore, moan they can’t create chances, fed-up of being a selling club.

Wycombe forum which consists of one man and a dog, basically betting on when they might score a goal this season and resigned to the fact they might have the worst championship points tally in history. They’re are resigned to having a shit season.

For me he didn't close down quick enough, seemingly to just token gesture close down to enable the oppos player to release the ball so he didn't have to make a challenge or maybe thats just the cynic in me!!

I wonder if we will lose Allen/Shipley for another striker Walker to partner Godden with O’Hare Number 10

I'd be tempted. For his different physical presence and pace, I'd be more tempted with Baka, although I suppose it will be Walker, who hasn't had enough game time for me to make a judgment on him. I'd be fine with that as long as Walker has the pace to stretch a defence (which Godden struggles with)

It has to be in the thinking but O'Hare is already being targeted so if we have the front two we're either going more direct to the forwards. O'Hare can't be the creative force on his own. Perhaps Walker could play a transitional role as part CAM, part striker?

We have played 4 games after about a 5 month lay off. A key player Kelly has been out injured. We have used Shipley out of position. We have two new signings Hamer and Sheaf who are bedding in. We are adapting to a much higher standard of football. We have been outplayed in one game. The others we have done okay in and had our moments.

The budget is small, this season is going to be tough. Our team will miss the lift our fantastic away support can give. Get used to it.
