He has scored 11 league goals with 7 of them being in League 2, I don’t see how it’s ridiculous really

Goals against higher league opposition in FA Cup dont count
So how then is he easily league 1 standard?

Lol he had a pretty good games/goals or MOTM performances against Ipswich x 2, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Bristol Rovers and Birmingham last season.

Fact is when he got a chance he performed. His mins per goal ratio is probably right up there in league 1.

ok......

Minutes per goal in L2 - 395
Minutes per goal in L1 - 163

Ponticelli has a goal every 109 minutes in league 2 I guess he was better than McNulty - In the Premier League Mick Harford averaged a goal every 18 minutes for us

Well I'll miss him, but if it gets him some football, and continued career progression with regular games, then everyone's done alright, surely.

He's no spring chicken. Best thing the lad can do is get regular first team football.
He won't do that at championship level.
Hope he gets a decent offer from someone in L1. Too short a career to be warming the bench.

I'm done with you now - iv provided you with the facts as to why he is easily L1 standard. I am not wasting my time on a sad little man like you. Have a lovely day
But you have not provided any evidence. You quotes one star which I showed was not evidence at all.

I'm guessing this could be news about his move to Real Madrid?

In all seriousness, I'd say he's a pretty limited footballer technically. Often can look like he's having a bad game / the ball is bouncing off him. Then he finds himself in the right position and pops up with a really important goal. Has obviously pulled some crucial worldies out of the bag on a few occasions, which leads me to then disagree with my own statement about him being technically limited.

I hope if he moves on, the fans at his new club give him the time to settle in and I'm sure he'll do well.

Whether you like him or not, whether you rate him or not, surely you can all agree that he's never given less than 100% in any game he's played and has given us all some absolutely terrific moments - some of my favourite being a City fan in recent years if I think of his away goals at MK Dons in the cup then Notts Co in the play offs and that volley at Peterborough away.

I'll miss him and wish him luck wherever he ends up.

Out of all the players that come and go, I really have nothing bad to say about Max at all.

Of course, his goal scoring ability might be in question and we can argue about goals per minute all we like. He has however, given 100% to the club and community for the whole time he has been here, and that no question raises the spirits of those around.

I am really happy with his time at the club, and never expected him to be the next Messi. I will be sad to see him go because in this day and age a hard working footballer does seem harder to come by. He has scored some important goals, and if it wasn't for that one at Notts County, who knows where the fuck we would be right now.

I know I can sometimes be one of the first to get annoyed at players, but I really think we should be showing him a bit more respect here.

For the record, I don't believe max is anywhere near the level some supporters think he is... However if his time here is done, then i thank him for his efforts and wish him well.. PUSB

Cult hero. As much as it pains me to say, we’re now above his level, there are others too, not just him.

I will be sad when he goes. Like when Wilson floats off happily but me and Tom Hanks are in tears.

Would be gutted, but we have to progress. Thanks for all the screamers Maxi

Without Max and the goals in the closing stages of the L2 season, we simply wouldn't have been promoted - and that could have been a real disaster - just look at Notts County today.

And Max certainly didn't look out of place in L1 after he was over a very serious injury. He's always stepped up. The goal against Peterborough was personally my favourite moment of last season.

It's astonishing that some posters on here (usual suspects who clearly live to see others not make the grade due to their own failings in life) seem to want players like Max to fail.

5pm, transfer window has closed and nothing further reported. Max is still our player, I guess.

Moves can go down to the wire.
Extensions can be granted if moves are close and proof can be provided, and permanent moves can turn to loans if there are problems (Benrahma to West ham for example....)
So there could possibly still be "outs"

Max was told a while back that he could find a club as he was well down the pecking order for the 1st team
I guess there may be some wrangling going on if we want a fee for him
The lad wants to play at his age
