I never said to drop COH. I said to play our best 11. Please refer to my other threads.

I’m outlining that switching to 4-5-1, it puts one of our best players out of position. This is because COH is either going to be played deeper, on the wing or not at all. What team would you play to accommodate 4-5-1?

Our best 11 is going to be in a 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-1-2. It’s what we’ve planned the recruitment strategy and training on the field around.

We have seen it a few times when he has got a selection wrong that is appears unwilling to make changes.

We lost 3 games last season, so he hasn't got it that wrong very often? I agree that there are times I want him to do things differently, but I just think the arrogant comment is uncalled for. Stubborn, maybe - but then it's his job on the line and he wants us to succeed as much as you or me.

A fine line between stubborn and arrogance. I think the issue is at this level you need to react with changes a lot quicker than he is used to.

We know our squad isn't as big as others so we have to be clever with selections and changes.

Who instructed the team to constantly take short corners for example. we bring up the big defenders and then dont even get a cross in.

He changed it 5 mins after the second goal. we had been battered for the who first half and should have reacted quicker.

the 3rd change would not make any harm. eps when he goes on about players needing to prove them selfs. but then doesn't give them any time.
Robins has some wonderful qualities in his vision for the club, the infrastructure he's built, he improves the players he brings in and he's developed a great team spirit at the club. I've never found Robins a very perceptive in-game manager though; from adjusting to when a game isn't going the expected way, to bravery or longer term vision with his subs. Our tactics were dire in L2 and we should be very thankful we have Viveash there on the bench with him.

The first 25 minutes or so, I agree - but that was as much down to the midfield/attack, as the defence, who I thought dug in with McFadz at the heart of it.

If they had taken any of the chances presented the floodgates would’ve opened. It’s just repeating the same errors week after week and showing far too much respect

We knew this was a loss before we kicked a ball. It’s that bottom half mini league between 10/11 championship teams we need to be in the mix with. We have enough quality to avoid relegation

This sort of defeatism is tiresome. The idea that the gulf in class is so great that we just rock up to these places, take our defeat and then walk away, because it's OK, we'll beat Rotherham in a few weeks and that'll be enough...

Of course we're coming up against better teams. But that doesn't mean there are not points to be won in these games. Have people only started watching football in the last 6 months? And we're going to have to win a few if we are to stay up, just as Luton and Barnsley did last season. That's how it works.

Fwiw, I think we will pick up points against top 6 teams because fortunately I'm not sure Robins subscribes to the 'they're too good for us, we can't compete' bullshit. We have to be better than today though, and we will be.

Didn’t we get the most points from a losing position last season?

Will dabo be fit for Tuesday? If not mccallum for Pask. Kelly starts for Baka (with Baka on last 20 if we need). Allen and O’Hare got to get more involved in the game; neither featured until it too late.

The last couple is games our midfield has been overrun. As a result, there is no bridge between our defence and attack. It may require 1-2 players (like our wingbacks) to be played in slightly advanced positions. But it’s not like they are not already used for attacking purposes anyway. This formation change to 4-5-1 will not require them to run back to defend as well and keep them fresher during the game. I think packing our midfield will somewhat help stifle the opposition in the midfield and not just have them pick off passes with ease and waltz through. Just a thought.

I just thought they were the better team to be honest. When Sam came on and we changed it around by losing Bacca we pressed more, but they had done the damage by then and were happy to soak it up and counter attack.

Trying to be positive... we have lost to the teams we could have expected to loose and taken points off the teams where we could reasonably have expected to. I think the next 5 games should prove a more accurate assessment.

It's just being realistic. We're 5 games in and have played 3 teams you'd expect to be around the automatics.
Yes, Barnsley, Luton etc picked up a few points against these types of sides but we're still acclimatising. The melt downs on here are frankly embarrassing from the same people who are saying staying up will be an achievement.

And after 5 games they both had 4 points the same as us and in my opinion neither had had a start as difficult as ours though admittedly Barnsley bagged a home win over Fulham on the opening day.

A lot of people playing dumb asking why we didn’t have two strikers up top. Because we were over run in midfield when we did have.
Stop wallowing in self pity.

Because Godden is too slow to get in behind and Bakayoko played 15 yards deeper than him. Allowed Brentford backline to play high and compress the midfield as a result.

Teams know what to do against us when Marosi is in possession. Front 3 block the main passing lanes to our CB's, then their midfield joins to create additional pressure when one of the defenders looks to move it into midfield. And teams feel even more comfortable to press us higher up the pitch because we have no pace up front. Godden isn't quick, neither is O'Hare nor any of the other AM options.

So we end up panicking in possession and either pumping it long or losingthe ball

Something else that would help too is every game that Bakayoko plays, someone needs to be in his ear telling him they saw one of their centre backs spocking his sister.

Probably too soon for Jobello but Hillsner should be making the squad on Tuesday after 2 90 mins for the 23s

Interested to see what he brings

We had the best equalising rate by a margin but we were in the fewest losing positions in the league. I would say that had more to do with team spirit, fight and belief than any in game decisions/tactics.

Whilst I’m not going to trawl through last seasons results, there were a lot of instances where substitutes won the game for us by scoring key goals, assists and generally changing the complexion of the match. Biamou v Bolton springs to mind.

A lot of people are basing their opinions on two games versus two of the best teams in this league: Brentford and Bournemouth. Both are clearly a class above us, and both will probably be fighting for promotion by the end of the season.

The point about us acclimatising is entirely valid and as the season goes on you'd hope we'll get closer to these sides. The way some people are going on though we've no hope. How easy would it have been for Luton to declare their trip to Elland Road as a lost cause as some seem to view our trips to places like Brentford? We need to shake off this 'they're too good for us mentality'. It is perfectly OK to acknowledge we lost to a better side, but also point out that some of our play was poor.

That said, I think there is plenty still to come from us and I'm confident we'll be ok.
