I read today that Mr Green, Rangers Newco Owner, is telling the supporters the Club will continue with it's History and be the same.

Surely this is not correct and the SPL should step in. Glasgow Rangers went bust and out of business, so how can they re-form but be classed as the same Club?

I am a Celtic Follower, so i am being honest. Just wondered if people thought this was fair and just. IMO, he is talking out his arse and they start the season with no History and no honours!!

I don't have anything against it. It may be a different company but the fans and history are the same. No different to if we ever went bust and came back as a new club. The company might be new but it's born of the ashes of it's previous club.

Yeah, even if they wanted to be a totally different club, the shadow of Rangers FC would be too large to escape from. They'll always be the same club in most people's eyes.

Other rumour emerging is that Green hasn't reapplied for SFL or SFA membership yet.

AFC Wimbledon took MK Dons to court about who should claim the history of Wimbledon FC and the courts rightly decided that the history of thr club belonged to the community and the fans. Which is exactly the same in this case Rangers, like every other football club (with the exception of MK) belongs to the fans.

not the same, Rangers are not proposing to move 150 miles!! Well they would if they took over Bury but that would never happen!

If we went bust and came back as say Coventry Athletic then the fact that Coventry City once won the FA cup can not be part of Athletic's history.
So no Rangers have gone, that's the consequencies of the action I'm afraid. They should not be allowed to even use the name Rangers in a re-birth and that alone would ensure the disparity existed.

In answer to the question put by the Celtic supporter,Rangers keep their history quite simply because the actual club will not be liquidated. Rangers Football Club was formed in 1872,it's the company that was formed in 1899 to run the financial aspects of the club that is to be wound up. To quote even the liquidators themselves Malcolm Cohen of BDO(the company appointed to wind up the old company)"It's important to understand that the appointment of liquidators will not mean the end of football at Ibrox - only the end of the company that ran the club," said Cohen. And that's it in a nutshell, this is the way Charles Green and the administrators structured histakeover,to ensure the CLUB itself remained the same. Same club, same stadium, same fans, same name, same history..The Rangers as the club are now known was actually the name the club formed in 1872 went buy. Hope that clears this matter up.

At the pointy end
Same fans, same second rate football, different name. I personally don't care where they end up, were they really that silly to think they were so high and mighty, Rangers got what they deserved.

All Scottish football is pish, look at the fantastic record in Champions League, EURO and World Cup tournaments.

I'd say all teams from all leagues need to start being careful really. The money being thrown around in football is just insane and it won't last forever and it's about time they all stopped getting away with it.

Of course it will be the same club. Maybe not officially but however many thousand fans aren't just going to forget! Add to that after a few years they will be able to buy their name back and, I think, their history - like Fiorentina did.

Well it's the fans that get the rough end of the deal again because of dodgy dealing behind the scenes. They should move to England and be done with it.

Just heard, think thus was the wrong decision IMO. Will be the final nail in the coffin for the Scottish league.

Think it shows great integrity from the 35 of the 41 eligable to vote ,withstanding financial pressure and whoever the the SFA/SFL merchant was suggesting PREM 2.

Reality !!! Coming to English football in the near future.

The fans are saying that they will not attend the clubs that voted against them in a bid to cripple the clubs! It's going to be messy!

Thats a strange one Stu ,might be a bit of a media/Sky thing as they obviously have an interest .I think the Club surveyed their own ST holders and their response was Go to Div 3 ,even Ally said as mutch himself.

Rangers supporters themselves wanted to start from div 3, as they don't want to owe favours to anyone apparently.

Considering the teams they will play have home grounds which hold 2500 I think they'll struggle.
At the end of it the fans are punished yet the instigators are not pursued, not good.

This decision will cripple the finances of every Scottish club except for Celtic-football is going to the wall up there. Fun for Celtic though who will walk the title with ease for 3 years minimum.

Does it have to though. There will still be the same number of teams ,and football will still be played . Sky have a contract with Scottish football not Rangers ,Someone will still come second,If they pulled the plug it would expose them for the charlatan leeches they are. They could reap a boycott on a National scale ,much like the Sun in Liverpool.
We all know its coming, the Big Bang ,this is one catylist ,somewhere soon a top team in our Prem will go into meltdown, its unsustainable .

I remember a few days before the announcement and Celtic (my club) issued a statement saying their finances are good and they don't need to worry about the future,I had a look the other day and Neil Lennon was saying we need fans to attend games ??

I think maybe the hierarch assumed Gers were going to wing it and stay in the spl

Anybody know as to how they are going to re-arrange the divisions. Who will take Rangers place in the SPL and the other divisons and so on or will they not replace them and have a shorter schedule in the SPL and an extra team in the 3rd division?

There is every possibility that the Leagues will be ripped up and 2 new SPL leagues formed according to the press reports today.
