Sounds like an excellent idea. Trumptown AK. They can all peacefully shoot at each other without bothering normal folk.

Congratulations Joe you hid in the basement for long enough, made enough promises to not change anything and squeezed enough states by tiny margins to oust the worst president in American history in the middle of a pandemic. I'm pleased Donald is gone but Biden will still deny people healthcare and govern as a moderate Republican. It's nothing to be cracking open the champagne for.

Just him being in the office is good enough for now.

Watch the Van Jones video

I have a good idea of what he's likely to say. Biden won't do anything remotely progressive and the gifting away of the Supreme Court means even incremental change will be fiercely resisted. Kyle sums up my train of thought pretty closely here

Eric Trump tweeting that they'd won Pennsylvania a few days ago worries me now, I mean if a Trump can lie I don't know who to trust any more
He does realise that not one state! Let me repeat that, not one state has counted 100% of the presidential votes yet

Even by 2020 standards Rudy Giuliani holding a press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping next door to a sex shop ranting mad conspiracy theories with zero evidence to a disinterested media is up there as very odd.

The best bit was when he said that from where they were standing there were papers that looked like they had the same signature....just that they were "so far away" they couldn't see it.

I’m glad Biden has won - and it will hopefully bring some stability to the country and world in general.
However I agree with Brighton - I can’t fathom how anyone interested in looking after the American people wouldn’t want to be in for universal healthcare, given the amount of American citizens that either go bankrupt or die from not having it. It’s hardly the measure of a progressive candidate.

Insurance companies fund Politician$

Politicians convince the people universal healthcare doesn’t work 😉

Bernie Sanders was (is) the most sane person in politics... but such is the brainwashing here... universal healthcare is a fucking scary nightmare to the average American.

A few years ago it was. Now the polls show they want it but for the above problems with corruption it will never happen. It's one of just many things that needs to happen that Biden will never do because, like Obama, he's a 1980s Republican.

Add to the list:
Decriminalise drugs and legalise marijuana nationwide
Get out of all the wars
Raise the federal minimum wage
Mass infrastructure investment starting in the most neglected states
Cut the military budget by half
Reverse Trump's obscene tax cuts
Reinstate Glass-Steagall

Not being a progressive candidate is a feature, not a bug of the Biden campaign. Americans aren’t an especially progressive bunch. Which is why 70+ million of them voted for Donald Trump and why Democrats voted against nominating Bernie, twice. What seems obvious to us European socialists is completely alien to vast swathes of the country.

In Florida, 60% voted for a $15 minimum wage. Trump won the state by a few points but is firmly opposed to raising the minimum wage, so presumably is Biden. What does that tell you?

The same goes for Democratic voters, the issue was not Bernie's policies, but the perception that Biden would be more likely to beat Trump. That was borne out time and time again in the polls. Policy wise Bernie is more in line with the American people than Biden or Trump

A $15 minimum wage is one of Biden’s main economic policies, which you would know if you’d watched the debates. So what it tells me is that you’re more preoccupied with the ‘Bernie would’ve won’ genre of fanfiction that has prevailed since 2016 than actual facts or analysis.

I support most of Bernie’s policies. I’d be a lot happier if he was president today rather than Biden. But American voters have repeatedly rejected him in national races. Winning nominations, not having better policies, is the name of the game - Bernie hasn’t done it, Biden has. I don’t know what else to tell you - I know you don’t like it, but those are the facts.

No you're right, all hail Biden, the electoral genius who bombed two campaigns and had the higher ups win the third. Let's see how things are in 4 years' time.

Yes they are the facts at the end of day, but the gerrymandering was so fucking obvious. Bernie stormed ahead, they pull out 2 candidates to boost Biden and then leave Warren in just long enough to split the progressive vote so much that it delivers the fatal blow to Bernie.

Anyone wanna troll the Trump lot with the fireworks over hear and say it's us celebrating him being ousted? They're not going to know different are they. We could call it Bonfired Night.

Why is it Warren splitting the vote but not the other centrists splitting the vote?
