What's the rule on getting your leg in the way of a player about to kick the ball and taking a whack?

Callum Wilson nipped in front of the defender the other day and took a kick and won a pen.

Neves just did it to maddison as he was about to kick it and took the kick in the leg and got booked and gave away a free kick.

Also, a striker backing in to a defender who is already in the air to get under them.

It should be a foul against the striker but for some reason they've got very inconsistent on it in recent years.
Making a back for an already airborne defender could result in serious injury & should be called as dangerous play.

Yeah that one against Brighton, Lallana was in the air. Kane saw it and backed right in and wiped Lallana out and won a pen from it.

I dont get how something can be the polar opposite depending on ref.

Depends on where the ball is at the time I guess.

If it's out wide and that's where the ref is concentrating while ball is coming over defender jumps, attacker backs in and by the time ref sees it he interprets it as defender climbing on the striker.

However with assistants and VAR should be overturned in this day and age.

I've noticed an increased leniency for refs letting a player take out an opposition player without any attempt to go for the ball, including when there is a break on, and no yellow card. It's giving the opposition a free chance to injure an opponent without consequence. Happened to us at least twice in the Watford game, and I've noticed it in a lot of other games. Penalise the players and they'll stop doing it.
