We've got so many square pegs in round holes going forward that we're always going to be struggling to create. I'm a firm believer that trying to get your best players on the pitch in their best positions then fitting other players into a formation where everybody is in their best position is how to build.

No point debating with you Scrooge if you can't respond to direct points and questions - and it's been clear to me for some time that you have no understanding of football making it even more pointless.

I'm delighted with the point but for most of us who understand the game it was a shocking performance and poor tactics.

Robins said we should have won 4-2

Kazim-Richards - missed a free header in the first half
That Lawrence should have scored in the first half when the ball was dummied and he hit it straight at Wilson
That guy hit the bar
They should have had a pen

we were poor and a good team would have really hammered us.
100% if we set up more positive Norwich and brum and tonight we win them games

I do think we should play two up against Rotherham. A physical presence in Biamou would be an option - they are a big side. Horses for courses and all that.

Walker has to work miracles on his own and it took Robins until being 1-0 down with 5 minutes to go to eventually go with it. We then score after doing that and the usual suspects are hailing another great point. I could understand us playing like this at Norwich but it's like we got our approaches to each game confused

To be honest, it would have got to the point where we were losing 3-2 every week and eventually people would have demanded a formation change... It's not pretty, but tonight really wasn't as much about the formation more the individual performances and style of play... We could have scored 4 still.

You think he got it wrong at Norwich them?
What's bizarre is that the Norwich game is included in the 4 game unbeaten run but it doesn't count because Norwich had injuries/Max scored late. Yet we draw against Birmingham because Juke missed a hattrick of sitters and it's rock solid 4 at the back.

You can win games if you concede, you can't win if you don't score. Then you have the guy who wanted MR sacked and Kenny Jackett to swap places trying to look like he was a genius all along

Forest away is the best one. As though that wasn't about a glut of missed chances and a last minute howler, it was all about the formation! Fuck sake.

But they're what we've got.
Why do people keep banging on about players not being good enough? They're what we have, it's not like we had the chance to recruit proven Championship pedigree. People need to accept it for what it is for their own sanity if nothing else!

And I disagree about O'Hare, not saying he will make the grade but too early to say he won't.
Shipley is really struggling.

Agree 100% - and I think O'Hare will make it.

I would return to wing backs. It allows us to play two of our most attacking and influential players in situations that allow them to impact the game. It also allows to us to play two up front and our three strongest centre midfielders together. Plus allows us to adopt to play with a 10 if needed.

We shipped goals earlier in the season but how many were formation/tactic related? And now many of those games did Kelly play?

I don’t mind using the defensive formation against stronger teams or for half/two thirds of a game, but I’d worry if we carried it on for the rest of the season and only ever changed it and showed attacking intent if we’re losing (like tonight).

Obviously not as we got a point... But that doesn't mean that the wing back system will work every week, it wasn't as we were shipping a silly amount of goals on average

Rotherham are a big horrible dirty side. They won't fuck about, they'll think we have a soft belly and go for us. We need to have a game plan. Shipley will get eaten alive by their 6ft monsters. Sheaf to start

In the last 5 games form table we sit 11th... 🤷
We could sit higher. It's in our ability to be better. I wouldn't mind clinging on if we were obviously shit but I think we're playing within ourselves to grind games out we could do better in.

We're going to have patches where we just can't win and sit way down the form table, to counterbalance that we need to have periods where we're better than mid table.

What’s O’Hare done to convince you other wise ? He wasn’t even a starter in league 1 he’s over rated and bottles the big chances in a game

I thought he was fouled -should have been a penalty. Header at Forest - quality. The goal against Reading even higher quality. Works his nuts off every game. The difference in his approach to playing versus Shippers (who i have always supported) is palpable in my opinion.

We play like tonight every week we go down and score perhaps once every 2 or 3 games

But when you put your balanced head on and realise we won't play like that every week then it becomes apparant we will fight to stay up...

As nice as the 343 is to watch, we were losing games and conceding constantly

That’s fair enough on O’Hare actually. Shippers is limited but can add to the side at times.

We played it for a spell of 3 games, beat the league leaders and threw away points against Forest and Watford because of a shocking 97th minute mistake and Callum waving his arms around in the box. It was nothing to do with the formation as I have to keep on saying.

Just because Derby and Birmingham let us off doesn't mean this is the answer against the teams in and around us. These are the games we need to be counting on to win. I'm not saying go gung ho every week

2 out of the 3 games we’ve played this formation we’ve been dreadful.

The only time it’s even looked close to working was when we had Sheaf and Kelly at the base and Hamer further forward.

We played the system for more than 3 games though

We only hit form in the div 2 year when he finally gave mcnulty support up front. It’s not like the old days with 2 up front, when you lose the ball one drops to help the midfield. When back fit godden is a very smart player who could drop slightly and would easily find spaces to link up, dragging space for Walker to do what he’s good at. Would be criminal not to give it a go

Palace are dull most weeks but stay in the premier league... Based on this season just wanting to survive we have to find a way, we need the money and tbh I don't think 343 will keep us up as a starting formation

Also note that despite some assuming that I take delight in us conceding and dropping points I'm still not thinly veiled calling for the manager to be sacked. Unlike a certain someone who is now at pains to act like he never went on about it for weeks.

He was all set to blame a loss tonight on putting on Jobello

We've never played that?

Ah right OK, you mean 2 up, I'm just on about wing backs in general, we played variations of it for around 10 matches

No I mean the specific set up that I wanted after the Boro game. The 3 central midfielders can offer good protection to the defence but also transition the ball better going forward while the wing backs have license to attack and Walker has a strike partner.

I'm not averse to tightening up in the later stages of matches
