Judging by how we’ve set up against teams around us I don’t see it being any different tomorrow I do fear for us against Rotherham tomorrow who are big strong 352 and press hard and high

I just felt the most frustrating thing on Tuesday was how he kept it the same even when a goal for them looked just a matter of time. Then he just makes like-for-like swaps so Biamou is the one on his own up front. Hoping for some more ambition tomorrow.

We will lose more games this season whether we set up for the draw or the win. Against the better sides sure try and hold a point but against teams around us we need more ambition.
Yeah maybe, I don’t think we do ‘set up for a draw’ in the sense that the intention is always to get 3 points if at all possible. I think the aim was literally to stop the flood of goals against and a side-effect of that was it blunted our attacking threat. I guess the longer term intention is to find the balance, keep it tight at the back and find a way of improving the ‘goals for’ column.

None of which explains why we don’t change it up quicker when it looks like we need to (to us fans at least), but I’m pretty confident that Robins isn’t aiming to draw all of our remaining games...

Great, so now we need a degree in geology to work out the formation. Wonder if he actually said / meant that word or if he meant (as I read it at first) uncomfortable?

All making sense now. I thought he was bemoaning poor ref decisions when he kept saying porous. Now I'm no longer being an igneoramus it's all sedimentary my dear Watson.

The aim is to stifle the opposition while hoping for Walker to pounce on something. Thing is we don't manage to stifle all that well even against the worst sides in the league. We haven't recruited for this way of playing

They don't play 3-5-2 most of the season I've said this already how thick are some of you ?- the majority of time this season they have played
4-3-3,,,,,suspect Warne will set up same way tomorrow though did play 3-5-2 other game and fans hope he sticks with it even though they comfortably lost playing that formation on the night.....hmm that sounds familiar,,,,,,!

You can call people thick for a lot of reasons but I don’t think not knowing what formation Rotherham play is one...

It's the fact that some on this thread have more then confidently stated they play 3-5-2 as if they know this to be a fact when it is completely incorrect.....I am guessing it is to try to justify playing 3-5-2 but if it is wrong then it doesn't really work!

It will be a tough game if we can get 3 points tomorrow it will be a massive result this is a big game in my eyes PUSB!

They’ve played 352 the last two games, it’s hardly “completely incorrect”

Think you all need to check your stats before speaking rubbish as fact,,,,for example schmee can you check the Rotherham website and confirm the formation they stated they played against Bournemouth......or is it mind games.....?......

I didn’t realise we were now arguing about opposition formations as well as our own

If he's fit McCallum at left wing back. I think the game up at Rotherham exposed Mason badly.

Wilson
Dabo
Ostigard
McFadzean
Hyam
McCallum
Kelly
Sheaf
Hamer
Bakayoko
Walker

Sheaf is good in the air, so useful from defensive and offensive set pieces

Love to see that formation but imagine MR will be too cautions, at least for an hour. Rotherham are a very awkward side but if we can minimise giving away set pieces and have an "on it" Baka chasing down their back line making himself a complete nuisance, we can prepare a second half platform to bring on Giles & Max for Sam & Baka and possibly Callum for Walker.

Whatever the tactics, it's going to be a battle of attrition but hoping for a sneaky 1:0

I have looked at last results between us and Rotherham (not saying Im guessing score based on them) and one team has spanked the other apart from that 1-1 last season so Im gonna go 4-1 to us

Rotherham have gone through exactly the same issues as us in trying to adapt to the championship. Paul Warne is playing a different set up against different teams and also based on player fitness and availabity
They will be 4 3 3 today I expect
Somebody mentioned earlier about Richard Woods and set pieces. Ostiogard or McFadz nead to mark him very closely. His weakness is now his speed and OHare and Walker should benefit.

I think he got the change in formation and style bang on for the last few games. Had to stop the rot and not lose at any cost. Very happy with the points return since Blues.

BUT... this is a game we need to aiming for a win and so I would like to see a return to wingbacks. Not necessarily two up top as we pose a threat with the box too provided COH and one other are given licence to roam and attack.

Would be a bit disappointed if we try and stodge them out of the game for 90 mins. Dabo and McAllum/Giles need to be attacking today.

This us one of the most bizarre match days threads yet. Some of the posts are embarrassing.

Feeling confident about the game today, but I think it’s pivotal we are offensive and on the front foot from the start.

I’d play wing back, as it allows two of our best outlets in Dabo and Giles to influence the game without the restrictions of full back. It also allows us to play our three best midfielders in Sheaf, Hamer and Kelly, and play two up front. I’m keen to see a Walker and Biamou partnership. And allows us to bring O’Hare on at 10, if we need extra midfield creativity.

2-0, Walker, Sheaf.

We've definitely got more quality than them I reckon. Let's make it count and trash em.

Don’t underestimate Rotherham. We struggle against them the best of times. If Robins sets up the team to attack and be positive from get go then we are in with a chance.

Agree 100% I’d take a draw TBH but would have to follow up with a win midweek

Agree with above. Winning today against a team we have struggled against recently would be a massive confidence boost. A must not lose rather than a must win game. Will be interesting to see Robins team and formation for today; I suspect he will rotate a few players again and think he will use subs a little earlier than he usually does.

Given Rotherham’s strength in the air, I feel Ostigard has to start as part of a back 3. Whoever is up front (1 or 2 players) must hold the out ball up well, so we have time to bring our wing backs into play.
That’s key to a positive result IMO

Who would you not take a draw against?
in this first year back....Wycombe would be the only club. Every other team I could accept this year. I still feel that being in the championship is a bit like that first time up town with the lads and you look around the pub and think ... im out mixing and drinking with some big feckers. If it all kicks off I’m going straight for little Wycombe standing by the fruit machine

Maybe you shouldn’t have gone to the pub at all
