First 11 games : 8 points Scored 12 Conceded 23
Last 8 games : 14 points Scored 8 Conceded 4

Quality of opposition ofcourse must be factored Into this.

But our first 11 form would have seen us relegated over a season

Our last 8 game form would see us comfortably top half over a season

It's at this point, you surely realise the constant questioning of tactics and lineups are irrelevant and the turnaround is magnificent although less pleasing on the eye...

The only option we have this season is to stay up.. How we achieve that is irrelevant

1 up 2 up trust the management... He's doing a great job

Not really like for like though is it? First 8 we played top half teams second 11 mostly bottom half.

We’re definitely tighter. Time will tell if such a cautious approach to winnable games will pay off.

Not like for like no although we lost to forest and made mid table Blackburn look like Brazil 1970 albeit with 10 men

We do however look much more comfortable in matches now overall

The goals conceded in the first 11 is very telling

Gone from 2 a Game to 1 in 2 and if you're not conceding you're always in with a chance

For me the key is to get to the end of the tough run of February fixtures in a position where the March fixtures against relegation rivals are not 'must win' games but 'must not lose' games. There's then a 2 week international break where we can get some rest before the final push.

February:
6th Watford H
13th Cardiff A
17th Norwich H
20th Brentford H
24th Swansea A
27th Blackburn A

March:
2nd Middlesbrough H
6th Derby H
13th Rotherham United A
16th Luton A
20th Wycombe H

2 week break

I would be aiming to get to March with a 5 or 6 point gap on the bottom 3.

It was obvious that something had to change, and it has. We were a soft touch and left ourselves far too exposed at the back.

Sure, we'd all like to see free-flowing football at all times, but the priority is to stay in the league by any means necessary. Then you improve the financial standing of the club, sign better players, and look to be become a team who shows a similar attacking impetus in the Championship to what we did in League 1.

If we are looking likely to stay up by the end of March, I'm thinking of getting a giant flag made with 'The final push' and a picture of Robins sitting on the porcelain throne wearing a stupid cartoon crown. Anyone feel like chipping in?

First 11 games we looked like a side that had just been promoted and getting to grips with the Championship, with a team that had barely any experience of the level

Last 8 games we look like a side that's improved immeasurably in how to manage games and grind out draws and clean sheets. I think having Kelly on the pitch was a huge factor in that and will be interesting to see how we get on without him

It's fairly/Very reminiscent of the approach (successful) over the last Two season's.
Game management, before for very much of the first half, now extending beyond, just the second half killer punch seems lacking but should come.
Negating is really what we've been good at over the last few seasons, could appear negative but????

Very much expressing our flair side but ultimately costing the plucky loser underdog.
All be it compounded through rash events/interventions,players and ref decisions.

I’d like to see a 2 point gap from 14th

I'm expecting that to be not as bad as feared.

by the last third of the season, the rest of the league will have played 2 years without a rest
we should see a benefit in that time

February looks a nightmare fixture wise.

We've gone from one extreme to the other, but I still put a lot of it down to being rusty at the start whilst being up against top opponents.

We are competing in every game, and more recently it has been more frustrating to watch us struggling to beat opposition that haven't actually been that good.

If we can be a bit braver we will pick up more points.

Certainly next season if we can get rid of a few players who aren't up to it and strengthen, we will be a decent side in this division.

I think that’s a fair comment. We do carry a few and I worry that Fadz won’t last a whole season given his age and the fact he plays 90 mins every game.
