That isn't the point, stupott....the point is that it was some claim to make...hope it comes true however.

Do you think Cody will be top scorer...or even 2nd top scorer?

I like his movement, and think fully fit he could get 20 goals next season, whether that's enough to be the leagues top scorer I don't know.

We surely can't stand for being an average team in this league????

Championship, yes, reluctantly, we accepted that...but not amongst the likes of Carlisle, Notts Cunty, Yoevil, Oldham etc....

Reserving judgement until we know what the finalised squad is isn't accepting average, it's making an informed decision.

It's informed as long as we factor in the ability of the manager as well.

Peterborough and Sc-unithorpe bounced back. Did they hugely increase their squads?

We have lost 7 players and reinvested in 3. Even by my maths that's losing twice as many as we've signed.

I'm what context does that equate to 'hugely increasing'?

To date, we're hugely depleted....

Sisu, thorn and the players left from last seasons debacle owe us big time. I see that as getting us back from where we game. And actually I think they have a half decent chance of doing it. If we are going to start accepting mid table in this league we might as well pack it up

people unfortunately are used to us not being good enough to challenge top 6 in any league and yes everyone has their reasons but for this season we can be optimistic and pessimistic and have no faith and what not but we have to leave it to thorn , to see what he can produce.. hopefully winning games, leads to a good winning mentality which will rub off onto us and we will become happy coventry supporters regardless of sisu being here, all we can do now is get behind the players and coaches and show the passion we did last season and see how it goes, no one can ultimately judge andy for this coming season, we can say what he's done in the past , that is gone and happened now we look ahead to the new season like every other fan and be excited for some football to be played, last season we were one of the many few teams who managed to play passing football best i've seen them play for a while and that's the football everyone wants to see , so let's not complain about signings and owners and that , be positive about the squad and the forthcoming season, PUSB

How many games did he win in his honeymoon period?

We could be facing relegation from the Conference and it would still get mentioned as something of mythical proportions.

We won 3. Certain people on here will proudly be telling their grandchildren in 20 years time.

Fair post but I still take issue with the attractive football view of last year. I didn t see it myself though I accept others may have. I m only really interested in attractive football in the areas that hurt the opposition not between the back four

I see where your coming from, does that mean It's a start? We managed to conquer passing between the back four without conceding it?, there were moments when we had the ball where it was 3-4 passes and we had shots , 2 touch football too , but not enough to warrant attractive football I guess, the formation we played didn't suit the passing game :/ you don't really have a CM who can pick the ball up and make a pass or create something, like Norwood did towards the end of last season still thorn should of changed formation but hopefully this season brings a bit of change

Now that AT is getting his BANG, BANG, BANG signings, and post-ers are expressing optimism, and considering the quality of who we are signing (coupled with the fact that we are playing at a lower level this season), the time for AT's excuses has come to an end.

In this piss-poor league, he has to lead the team to a top 6 finish at THE VERY LEAST...anything else is a failure.

We have to be challenging for the play-offs....from the off.

The excuse of the standard of other teams, does not wash at this level....do we really expect to be bumming around with Crewe, Yoevil, Warsaw, Tranmere, Colchester...you get my drift....

Time to go to work and deliver AT and the lads......:thinking about:

personally now I think we may have a team to stay up. Depending on injuries. SISU admitted to squad lacked the players to stay up last season. Since then we have lost clingan, mcpake, cranie, Platt and the two loanees.

So yes I think the three signings are good. But the squad that was too thin is down by another three already. So I expect another three signings and one more when we lose Keogh.

Yes we have dropped a division however we are still playing the same amount of games.

So a team that is in this division because it could not cope with injuries is now weaker by three senior pros.

I expect much better than last season.

I expect us to be in the top half.

I hope we are in the top 6.

I pray we will be in the top 2 and I'm not religious in any way.

Brilliant.

Peterborough made 20 signings in the promotion year to help them bounce back 11 permanent signings and 9 loans.

Perms
Paul Taylor
David Ball
Steve Collis
Lee Tomlinson
Arron Davies
Nana Ofori-Twumasi
James Wesolowski
Mark little
Grant McCann
David Hibbert
Grant Basi

Loans
Paul Jones
Tom Kennedy
Jonathan Obika
Kieran Agard
Marcus Williams
Adam Clayton
Lewis Nyatanga
Matthew Gill
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

Add to that they also had a proven league one 20 goal a season striker on CMS.

Scunthorpe got relegated in 2009/10 and finished 17th last season in League One - they signed 11 perms and 11 loans last season.

Peterborough did indeed make all those signings but you have missed out a couple of other facts to get the full picture.

They released 31 players. So they reduced the playing squad by 11.

They raised over £2.5 million in transfer fees and spent around £400,000.

So reducing the squad size and also spending only a fraction of the fees yielded in sales and they still secured promotion.

This is more like a piss poor post to me !!!!!!!!!!
And the only way I could agree with it is if we keep Keogh , Bigi and add some more signings to give us some more strength in depth. Because as it stands at the moment the fact is that we didn't have enough players fit to compete for the whole season and currently we are still in the same position as last if not worse !!!!!

My post above shows Peterborough seemed to reduce their squad substantially and spent very little of the money raised in player sales. Yet they secured promotion and withbe a 24 man squad have survived in the Championship.

Something must be different - I wonder what it is.

I would be surprised if 'Thorny' is still in charge by October, luckily he will have no where to hide and his bullshit won't cut it.

Am not AT's greatest fan but bit early to be setting lines in the sand. Lets see what the squad looks like by start September and look at the results we are achieving.

I think recent deals have proven that a reduced budget does not stop us getting decent players in, we are still lacking in depth however. If we can continue to deal cleverly in the transfer market then in some ways that is going to negate the argument that AT hasn't had the backing especially if there is depth added to the squad as well. SH going also removes an "excuse". AT is no longer a complete novice, he has over a year in the job and has some qualifications. A number of problems player wise have now left (eg Eastwood). So yes things have changed...... yes AT will have less to hide behind ..... but lets get the season going before we begin to judge..... I am sure AT is well aware that despite the finances, SISU, etc he has to achieve better results than he has done so far.
