In my cohort most of the other people on the course openly joked about how they had to learn up the subject matter before teaching lessons even at KS3. Bad spelling doesn't mean bad knowledge though

It is bad typing not bad spelling but one of my colleagues is dyslexic and a teacher so youbsre right. He is just having a bad day I think. No point continuing the argument. I will say however that my school said I am one of the best trainees they have ever had in terms of relationships with the pupils though.

Probably because I am immature but hey a compliments a compliment!

No i agree. I have observed lessons where teachersubject knowledge lacking and the kids get shafted (not by me)

When not planning I am brushing up on my subject in evenings just foe my own confidence.

And whilst I get on with the good kids I will need to get better with behaviour management for disruptive ones. So don't worry I only got the one compliment lol

No it's fine, I entered teaching from academic research and it took me time to make sure I was heard and that people listened. My feedback in both years was always that I knew things well and could plan good lessons on paper but struggled to assert myself in the classroom. Which was fair, it's what training's for.

It wouldn't surprise me if Boris is wheeled out to announce the latest nationwide lockdown tomorrow. The backlog of death registrations will start showing in the figures later on today and I think those numbers over the next couple of days are going to be shocking.

Looks like the announcement we are going into Tier 4 is today.

Tier 5 for parts of London etc.

If they can't control the spread of this then it is only a matter of a week or two for a near-full lockdown.

The way they are sweeping areas up to go into different tiers from the sprawl from Kent just looks like they haven't got this under control and are on a damage limitation exercise until the economy stops or the NHS are overwhelmed.

Also, talk about moving hospital patients out of London to other areas

Cumbria I've read has had the biggest % of Covid infections in the last seven days (50% last time I checked), Coventry was 25% so unsure what the threshold is

This is here to stay. Most likely thing is that certain categories will require annual jabs for different strains, as a lot already do for influenza. Society cannot and will not be indefinitely restricted like this

The common cold and flu mutate every year hence they prepare a different vaccine every year for it. These are established in the population and pretty infectious. Not as lethal as COVID which is a new virus, but my feeling is over the years they will become comparable and annual jabs may be required for the vulnerable groups.

As for the average person when they get a cold or flu they will be off work for a while but very likely not hospitalised (estimated around 1% of the hospital cases from outside of the 9 vaccination groups).

The main thing is we have vaccines and they're being rolled out. Hopefully they can improve the timescale of getting them administered. But they definitely offer a way out of this and a return to something approaching normality.

I still think we'll be living with certain measures for a long time.

Normality has changed for our lifetime I think.

Pretty sure it will be something else after the next time we are locked up for a while.

You've got to remember, other parts of the world have been through this more than once in recent times and got through it.

I’ve thought more about that chap who tweeted yesterday. To his credit he has at least independently understood how a vaccine works! Just a shame he’s about 200+ years behind Edward Jenner
